Ok, im wanting to put a fuel tank in the bed of my chevy stepside, now if my old gas tank was a stock 16 or 15 gal. for my fuel gauge, if i put another side tank in the bed how do i get my old gauge to read the right about???

it'll be easier just to go down to napa or vatozone and get a universal one

What i ment was take my Stock 16 gal. Fuel tank out. and install a new fuel tank in the back of my bed??? does it still have to be a 16 gal. for the fuel gauge to read right???

It should have a float in the gas tank. Pull it out and bolt it into the new gas tank.

If the new tank comes with its own sender you should be able to specify GM sender in it. Then you just wire it up. If you put your old one in the new tank all you need to do is bend the float untill empty in the tank reads empty on the guage.
