So, I was driving around in my samurai today and she was running great. I pushed the pedal to the floor and the motor started making a really bad noise.
Basically, it almost sounds like a grinding noise coming from the back of the motor. I thought it was the Fuel pump at first (because thats around the area where the noise comes from), but I pulled the fuel pump off the block, grabbed an electric from the shop and it still did the same thing. I only ran her for a about 20 seconds like that because of the oil splattering out of the block where the fuel pump sits.
When the noise started happening, the motor lost all its power, I can put the pedal to the floor and she won't go past 3k rpms.
The only other thing I could have thought it could be back there is possibly the distributor.
The motor is a stock 1300 with stock everything & carbed ('86)(just picked it up from an old guy who towed it behind his RV).
The motor , up until today, has ran REALLY strong.

Anyways, thought you guys might be able to help!

Do a compression test.

I don't have the equipment to do a compression test and the local shop wants $75 to do it, which is a rip off.
I'll keep checking other things in the meantime.
