Every time I hit to local U-pull my eyes always jump to the late 1970’s 4x4 F250’s, you know why. What I’ve noticed is the Dana 44 front drive shaft has a nice +8” long splined male shaft. The reason I noticed this is the female side is always pulled. Is this a much longer slip yoke? Anyone have a picture?

I’m looking at building my own front shaft.

Thanks Jess!
Do you suggest a 1330 joint on the axle side with a CV?

The 78-79 F150's and Big Broncos I've taken apart have a Male end of ~6-7" and only ~3" of the end is splined.
This last one is off a 74 F250 with a divorced 203 T-case, CV joints front and rear. The entire +8" male end is splined.

How about an hint's on which shaft to look for in the yards that have more slip yoke than 8''?
