I need to know if an old style torque converter will fit the new tranny, any info will help. Thanks.

I need to know just how old you're talking! ZF to ZF, or 727 to ZF?

AFAIK the differences in the ZF trannies are all limited to the other end of the torque converter-ie. flex plate/crank flange adapter. Perhaps Mr. Ashcroft will correct me if I'm mistaken.
