:flipoff2:

Doing a SAS on my Chevy, and I'm using a 77-79 Ford HP Dana 44... How the FAWK does the U-Bolt setup go on these things? Passenger side is straight forward, I'll make a plate to sit on top of the leaf and order some U-Bolts to squish it, but what about the driver side?

I've got a '75 Dana 44 from a Chevy that I'm checking for similarities/stealing parts from, and that housing has a ring cast into the 3rd member for the U-Bolt to rest in. The Ford housing only has a hole in the back, and I'm not even sure it's for a U-bolt?!

wtf:confused:

From the factory ford used an "upside" down setup. You can find the bottom plates on ebay, sometimes. I just had a bigger u bolt made for that location and cut a notch in the webbing that runs right there, then use the hole that you already talked about.

Ford parts on a Chevy very funny since Chevy parts nearly end up on everthing other than a Chevy.

Uhm.. Unless I can't see it for some reason, my Chevy 3rd member has the groove but the Ford doesn't. Is it hiding or something?

I was thinking of that exact same thing, but was worried about the loss of strength cutting the web would yield. Is it a non issue?

Yeah, I know. Technically, it's not a Ford part, cuz of Dana... But then again, who's to say that Chevy parts are Chevy's, not Dana, Corporate, Eaton, etc etc.
