You da man, thanks.
vikingsven 05-30-2007, 02:14 PM I heard the off camber spot on the ridge before the downhill to crossing 1 is getting pretty hairball.
Anyone have any pics/comments?
NY_crawler 05-30-2007, 03:08 PM Can we get a trail map and directions put on here with places of interest and camping spots for the trail? I have seen some pics of it and would like to do the trail at some point but don't know how to get there or much about it.

It wasn't that bad last weekend imo, but is definetely on our list of items to work on in the future. Here is the best pic I took of it...I think its more a circumstance of having the cliff right there then it is of it really being off camber bad.

I agree that the cliff adds a great deal to the scariness of the section, and it isn't that bad, but it should be dealt with nevertheless. It's just a matter of time before someone ends up at the bottom:eek:
geberhard 05-30-2007, 05:19 PM Very cool, so now to scare turists, we need "pink labia" man himself Keith Strong to post pics of his underwater adventure :D

It has some serious pucker factor, and I think it's mainly the cliff. I drove throught it one night and it didn't even phase me, but heading back in the next day I was:eek::eek:
Damn you camo, now I have to scan some pics to add here:laughing:
Edit found some from 04
Edit 2 neither of these are me, but the pic in my sig is the rocks section leading up to this spot
santa 05-30-2007, 06:57 PM Other trails in the area These are the Class V section of Signal Peak Trail, also off Eagle Lakes road.
numtel 05-30-2007, 09:20 PM Moveaside blew a bead on that little off camber spot a few years ago and slid off the ledge a little bit. Now he's very careful there:eek:
Tinman 05-31-2007, 07:59 AM Here's a couple of shots of the off camber.

Here is a shot of the first off camber you come to. It's just a little before the main one.

Sorry for the non responses lately. I was having a problem signing on but it seems to be working now.
Tinman 05-31-2007, 08:05 AM The shirts DID turn out nice. Thanks Jeff. We just got a few made for the run but will be selling them in the future as well as FOF stickers (as soon as we get it all set up.)
There will be a map, lots of pics and GPS coordinates. All I have to do is find the extra time to work on it. It's going to take hours to download and caption all the photos I have from the trip. I don't have my dedicated FOF computer set up at home yet so I have to do it all before or after hours at work right now.
Add to that being in the middle of a build on my rig in and working feverishly to get it done in time to go work on the Rubicon at the end of June and trying to get back to Fordyce to work on the major mud hole before it gets really messed up. Whew!
Hi Ken, Here I am. As I said I had a problem signing on.
Tinman 05-31-2007, 08:08 AM http://fourdice4x4.com/photos/albums/Fordyce5-07/P1010005.sized.jpg
Hey Jeff, husky boys shouldn't stand so close to the edge there. You could make the whole section slide downhill!:D
Tinman 05-31-2007, 08:29 AM or as regulated........
One of our goals is to keep the trail from becoming overregulated. I know it seems to some that we are going opposite of that but if the problems are handled before they get a lot of attention there is less chance for someone stepping in and saying the trail needs to be regulated or closed to protect it.
Concerning the popularity of the trail, it is coming and there is nothing we can do about it. The increase in 4 wheelings numbers and the hassles on the Rubicon are bringing more people to Fordyce. Another reason to get a handle on it NOW!
Exactly.......
Stop it before it starts.
You guys kick ass for stepping up on this.:grinpimp:
Let me know if I can do anything to help.

elarsen 06-01-2007, 11:28 AM That off camber spot reminds me of the turn on the South Park Trail in Panamint Valley. Not difficult but the cliff gets folks :D.
jethrodeg 06-01-2007, 11:37 AM Here is another angle of the off camber.

Hey Tinman…I know you are excited to be on the trail but good lord man…keep it in your pants! :flipoff2:
Tinman 06-01-2007, 11:53 AM You look happy enough with the angle you've got.:flipoff2:

Nice comeback....:shaking:
JohnDF 06-01-2007, 07:50 PM If you ask me, the first section has more pucker than the second. We drove them both early when they were just big sheets of ice. Now that was pucker factor
ANTHONYFARLEY 06-04-2007, 01:06 PM If That Off Camber Spot Gives You The Puker Factor Then Spend Some Time Playin On The Down Hill Desnt To Buck Island On The Rubicon Trail There Are Some Really Big Puker Factor Sections There Also! It Is True Tho Wheeling At Night Is A Big Mind Game What You Cant See Makes You Feel All That Much Better Its Like Walking On A One Fot Wide Borad A Foot Off The Ground You Can Run Acroos It! But Put It Twnty Feet In The Air And Most People Woud Sit Down And Drag There A** Across It!

I plan to run the trail for the first time very soon for this very reason. I also plan to explore more of the no name roads more over the next few years before they get closed.
ddestruel 06-10-2007, 09:42 PM The CLIFTA .... that spot was pretty exciting when we broke trail through there in january.....
dpinduramax 06-17-2007, 03:19 PM Havent been to this trail yet but want to hit it this summer, I'm in WA state so not too far for me. Where should I trailer to and park?? How long does the trail take, do you guys hit it then come back the same way or what? Any info would be a great help thanks....
For a few bucks you can park at the campground at the Cisco Grove exit. It's by the market and showers (nice after the run to shower).
I've only been on it once and we had 5 rigs. We took 4 days to do it both ways but that was our plan. Parked and unloaded, crossed the river and camped along the trail on the first day. Up to Meadow Lake the second. Back down on the third to camp along the trail. Out on Sunday and on the trailer by noon for the drive home. All but the second day were 1/2 days of wheeling.
With the rig you have in your sig you can do it to Meadow Lake in a day but depending on how many rigs it can be a long day. You can drive out to Hwy 89 then back to 80 and your rig. That's a long drive in itself.
Like most trails it is a very different trail in the reverse direction. I like the up and back run myself.
