I noticed you put 1st time on the video so I'll explain my smart ass remark.

I think if you did keep it up there you flop onto passenger side.

With your vehicle going straight through the "squeeze" is a piece of cake.

Hell those pics are from 05 man. You go up the Left side, you get pretty off camber but you don't get wedged in. You got up the right side and get your driver tires wedged under the ledge.

I think the dam was releasing 450, but we were early in the snow melt, and the kayakers who came through AND SAID IT WAS TOO CRAZY TO PADDLE estimated the water at 600cfs near the Committee Crossing before the uphill to Fordyce Lake.

Now that everyone has had a chance to see the old pics if Keith I hope you'll forgive me for deleting them. We don't need to show oil entering water even though I heard Keith talk about how much water entered the motor. Sounds like it was more a case of the creek polluting the Jeep than the other way around but I, uh, you know...

I was reading the no seatbelt comments. Not sure if they are directed at this picture or if it is referring to the guy who rolled his rig a couple pages back. Just for clarification, the driver and passenger are wearing seatbelts. The Jeep got into a position in which the passenger shoulder belt locked and could not be put back on, but there are also 3" racing lapbelts installed which the passenger is wearing. Better than nothing.

You wanna know why runner on 46's thinks it is his business,
Because it is when the guy who doesn't wear his seatbelt gets hurt that people like him come to the no seatbelt wearin asshats aid. maybe after you are firsthand involved in a life threatening situation that you realize it is asking a lot of others around you when you neglect basic safety possibly involving them and their recreation in your personal decision.

I have to say that brand new 43 SX's and liberal use of the big block were definitely the way to go last weekend. I was able to get up Committee without winching and even tow a couple rigs up the steep hill leaving Fordyce Lake. Was running 2 psi in front and 1 in the rears. Of course I also have to admit to taking the hook after backing off the trail in the exact same spot as Rolo while trying to get into position in case someone needed a tug up a ledge.

i agree, 37's @ about 3-4 psi red's with 4cyl power made it challenging. coming back up sat. at noon i must say was really icy, made it difficult to hold any line, getting a running start made it difficult due to any dangers of sliding off mountain side... super slippery, especially when you have drop-offs one one side. one hell of a challenge but will and ready to do it again. :D

So the first whole minute of this where there's virgin snow, that's the old route, right -- the one that the property owners have repeatedly requested be closed?

About a minute in, you can see where the new land-owner approved trail connects, when the camera vehicle joins existing tracks. That pretty much means that there were existing tracks at the top, as well... I know we've talked about signing this route closure, but I'm not sure that would've helped here, where the driver elects to drive off the beaten trail.

Cool footage :cool2: but bad route election. :(

I just got back from Fordyce lake, and running the Committee trail. Here is a picture of the old trail comming down the hill.It doesn"t even look blocked.I can see were people that aren't aware, would want to take that path.It has to be blocked with a real block. What RCKRATZ is talking about is the only solution.Dump some BIG trees.Ones that a KOH rig can't even get over...It's obvious that trynig to block it again, and again is not working. For some reason, people want to take the easy path, even though it has logs accross it.I just don't get it.Isn't the harder route more fun? That's why we wheel, right?

the snow is melting, I have been up to the eagle lakes side the last two weekends and there is way less snow now than a week ago.

Thanks Gents! I think a run to first crossing and back is needed to check on that sheet of ice going down to WC1.

the sheet of ice on the 2nd cliff spot on the ridge is going to be a problem. I'm not sure you could get across that without going over the edge unless you had a winch cable holding your rig. The ice near the river was covered with snow as of yesterday, I did not need to winch coming back from the river until I started sliding off the cliff.

I would not recommend trying that cliff spot on the ridge at all. I'm 100% serious. Don't even consider it without having a cable snatch blocked to an uphill tree, especially on the way back out. That spot is spooky even when things are dry, and 500x so in the snow. Ice makes it even worse. That would be a very ugly trip down to the bottom.

pretty much t shirt weather during the day but it was in the mid teens overnight down by the river. As soon as the sun went down the whole place froze solid.

If I only had a transmission I would hit the trail with tire chains ready.

what happened to your transmission? I've thought about making some chains, where you get them? Hard to find for 40's.
