: Scuggly gets the front 4 linked
Sillyneck 05-30-2007, 08:40 AM not sure why my friend even had me do this. :D he goes by vertigo on here. this scout has been used and abused for the last 8 years. Nothing has ever been fixed right in the past :D thanks to me being a drinking buddy and him being a broke ass.
He finally ditched the HP 44 for an HP 60 and we ditched the extended radius arms in favor of a 4 link.
over the past couple of days we glued it all together and it's almost ready to hit the trail again.
specs:
460
c6
205 (doubler on order though)
hp 60
14 bolt
40" iroks on 17" beadlocks.
that's 60" under the middle of the tread there :)
so now it has a front link system worth more than the rest of the whole rig lol.
(hmmm pbb pics aren't working adding photobucket)

larboc@hotmail.com 05-30-2007, 09:17 AM how are you gonna steer this beast?
Sillyneck 05-30-2007, 09:21 AM full hydro single ended ram. the ram should have been here last week
VERTIGO 05-30-2007, 09:26 AM How Bout it... The Scuggy got a face lift and some highly needed upgrades. After 15 broken shafts from the 44 2 saginaw boxes, 4 tears in the frame near the box i finally found my hp 60 and full hydro. Damn shes lookin good.
BLK Scout 800 05-30-2007, 09:50 AM Looks like it has some flex :flipoff2:
What rear leafs you running? Why only 39.5 Irocs on 1 tons no chromo's yet?
Looks good but it don't look like a scout anymore, then again neither dose mine
lagit_fj40 05-30-2007, 10:11 AM x2 on the rear leafs. they seem to flex dam good. nice link set up:beer:
Not Rated 05-30-2007, 10:32 AM Looks good, keep the pic's comming.:D
RustoleumWhite 05-30-2007, 10:50 AM mmmmm, square tube :D
Looks like Bushings at the frame, what joints in the front?
Any 'magic' numbers on the links, or just plug them in were they fit?
Budget, how much would you say it in the front (not including labor), i.e. $$ for bushings, link material, joints, buckets?
Any pics of the upper buckets?
Sorry for the questions, but me like and me want to cop..... er.... benchmark it some day (hopefully soon) :flipoff2:
VERTIGO 05-30-2007, 01:08 PM I'm running 1 1/4 inch lower hiems at the axle, 250 wall square tube, wrangler bushings up top
uppers have wrangler bushings at the axle and 3/4 hiems up top with DOM.
rear springs are some f-ked up rear F150 springs that have been through hell and back but are still tickin, about to be swapped for some newer pnp same springs.
Other than that, material cost a few hundo. way cheapo than most do it. and for labor, i've been whoring myself out at sillynecks shop sweepin floors and givin reacharounds for trade :flipoff2:
40's are plenty big, u just have to know how to drive it! plus i figure 40s will cut down on major problems and i hate fixen sh!t on the trail, just over it!
I can‘t believe the Scout… Looks like it is going to work so much better, and Phil, you look so happy to be working on it. lol your OK
Snoopy 05-30-2007, 01:48 PM Very cool man ~
Sillyneck 05-30-2007, 03:48 PM and 3/4 hiems up top with DOM.
7/8 heims w/ 3/4" bolts. I don't pay him enough to know what's going on :D Drink more beer... see ya at my parent's later for the moving session
Sirmonte 05-30-2007, 04:01 PM Sweet ride.
72hiboy4x4 06-26-2007, 09:10 PM Man, that is shweet!
My new project (for the wife) is a '72 Scout 2 mud/trail truck.
planned specs:
351W
NP435
NP208 Tcase
Dana 44 front
Dana 60 or 70 rear
35" swampers
Nothing fancy, just bits and peices that I have laying around for the most part. Will look like sh*t, might work like sh*t, but she won't care! (or know any better). She's just mad that she can't drive my Jeep!
ih4ever 06-26-2007, 10:39 PM hey you were up in my area a few years back for that north valley 4x4 comp... not too much scout left on that frame!!:flipoff2:
BLK Scout 800 06-30-2007, 12:17 AM Update..?
VERTIGO 06-30-2007, 10:42 AM update = took the rig to Fordyce the day it got done... wheeled the piss out of it all weekend, broke nothing and the front suspension worked GREAT! Note to everyone... make sure you use cotter pins in your draglink.... i had one back off, the nut fell off, needless to say if it happened 3-5 minutes earlier we would have been seriously hurt. Other than that I LIKE TO PARTY!!!:flipoff2:
BLK Scout 800 06-30-2007, 03:57 PM Cool I had wondered about the truss on the front end that the links were held by. Sounds like it held up just fine :grinpimp:
DHONDAGOD 07-09-2007, 02:16 PM What front springs are those?
