I contemplating a gear change. I was wondering what would be more important. According to the gear calculators, my choices are separated by the number of pinion teeth. Would I be better of with a stronger pinion ( more teeth ) or lower gear. I'd like the lower gears, but worry about my recent trend of broken parts :D :D :D

Dennis, it depends largley on the gear ratios that you are contemplating using as well as the axle and the rest of your drivetrain. Let us know these things and we'll help you out.

Its for an EB with a 9in. and D44. I have 37 MTRs and I'm looking at 456,488 and 513s

You should be fine with either gear set, ofcourse the 4.56's will be the sronger gear set, but I'm sure the 5.13's will hold up just fine as well.

I don't think you need to consider the 4.56's. The 5.13's would probably do just fine but if you are really hard on things then maybe the 4.88's.

You have RC front so dont even worry about it. Get a good quality gear set and concentrate more on your gearing needs rather than strength.

early bronco had a rc44 in the front? thats news to me I htought those came only on fullsizes?
if you buy a quality gearset and set it up carefully you should be fine. I imagine the u-joints will still fail before the ring and pinion.
