Here are the pics of what I started with.

and where I am now. Constructive criticism is welcome and expected.

Shrock and I are building the rear bumper and sliders this week, if everything goes as planned...

The white ones were once blue. They turn white when they see the big scary grey ones. :flipoff2:

Hank

The suspension will be stock until I upgrade axles. Then it will be coil rear and sammi rear to the front.

Shrock - you drink Lonestar? or Bud Light?

How much body lift are you running? Looks like you may have some rubbing issues when you compress those tires. Oh, and the grey ones do wheel pretty good, but I wanna paint mine white. :D ~Steve

Hank
06-04-2002, 10:30 AM
Three inch body lift.

I own a BFH, angle grinder, dremmel tool, hack saw, and a sawsall.

I refuse to let sheet metal get in the way of my fun.

New motto:

If it rubs, cut it off!!

My Trail Tough YJ conversion moved my front axle forward a couple inches. I don't think I will have any problems with the 35's hitting the rear of the front wheel well, but I know I will need to trim the front of it for when it compresses. ~Steve

Ha Ha,

Nothing like a couple of beers to make you get lazy with the grinder!!!

Note to self:

Buy a fawking grinder that shuts off when you release the trigger or lose control of the evil little bitch.....

Thanks Shrock for laughing at me when I needed it the most!!

After it finsihed with Hank, the damn thing ran across the shop floor, grabbed a full quart of Mobile 1 and chewed a hole in it, then started trying to escape through the wall!

Hank How much did it cost you to build the sliders?

Shrock
06-05-2002, 04:21 PM
I'm in progress of gearing up to start mass producing them. Hank's was #2. I'm also probably going to do a kit for DIY folks with the tube, a template and instructions.

You are in Houston? I could use another test case for the production version and the instructions and such. email me if you are interested and I'll cut you a sweet deal.

Those rocker guards are sweet. I'd buy a set from ya, but my rocker panels are a little bit too "rock modified" to fit them anymore. :D ~Steve

Shrock
06-06-2002, 06:45 AM
Crushed already? I was kicking around the idea of a frame mount option for people with rusted or thrashed rockers. The only problem with frame mount would be that body lifts would require different frame mounts depending on the amount of body lift.

Hank

Sam.I,

I would like to be the first person to welcome you properly so...... :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

The steel was reasonable, about 30 bucks, but get in touch with Shrock, he is getting tooled up to mass produce them.

Lookout SHROCK BARS are coming!!!

You could always make them weld on to the frame. This way if people did have some type of body lift, they could just weld it on a little bit higher. Just a thought... I like the way yours mounts now. I wheel with a Jeep who has rockers like these that bolt to the body and they've taken some pretty good hits. ~Steve

If its good enough for most of the Land Rover crowd on a high dollar rig, I think It will work on a truck that weighs 1/5 of the Disco....

If the panels are bashed in now, just pull em out and BFH them back into a workable shape and fugetaboutit!!

:flipoff2:

Im going home......

Got rid of the cancer!
Painted it
DIY bedliner
Added Winch
Mini Spool in the rear.

All I need to do now is find a good deal on seats, finish the cage and add a swing away tire carrier...
