We were out in moab over memorial weekend. We tried to go to BFE saturday, sunday, monday,. However there was a giant hippie convention that was being held there.(some concert or something.) This was a bummer cause there was nothing on BFE's web about it. Then on tuesday when we finally got in there we found huge piles of trash. Trash in the trees, It was all over the place. The people runnin the show(or the chick sellling tydie shirts at the entrance) said they rented out the whole park. I sure hope it was in the contract or something that trash was being hauled off at the renters expense. It was pretty nasty and surprising to see how a bunch of hippie, treehuggin bastards could trash an area that size. Pack it in, pack it out! Right????

That concert is called desert rocks, and as far as I know they were only supposed to be in the parking lot/ pit area, so all the area Bfe trails still should have been accesable. It is nothing but a giant hippie fest that, I cant belive happens at a place like Bfe, and on such a busy offroad weekend like memorial day. Hopefully they have to come get all the trash and haul it out but who knows if they really will. Anyway Area BFE is a great place, and the property owners just do what they can to keep the gates open(renting out for mini woodstock)... Bottom line.. Lets ALL drop a little something into the donation box when we visit BFE, and maybe the land owners can keep the bills paid and not have to rent it out.

BFE is a business in many senses of the word. They have to do what they can to stay open for us to enjoy. It sucks to hear the news of what went down but who knows what the result was after everything was said and done. Maybe to promters went back in after you left and cleaned up...?

Yes i understand it is a buisness. And our group still threw some $$$ into the crazy contraption of a donation box. When we were there(after the woodstock) there were a few hippies still walking around(like 5 or 6 of them) they tried to bum some beer off of us. And the place was really trashed at that point. It was just a bummer to see that.

its not about me cleaning up after them...its about them cleaning up after themselves. We do our part to keep the trails clean.
