Dont know if it is possible to wear anything out on an IH motor but I think my cam and or lifters might need replacing. I have a bone stock 1978 304. Looking for something with more low end for crawlin. Wondering if you guys have any recommendations on what you have had good experiences with. Thanks

One above stock. Most refer to it as an RV cam.

I've been real happy with my comp cam 260H(part number 83-201-4) and the comp 961 valve springs. It pulls hard right off idle all the way up to 5500 rpm or so. I know I probably shouldn't be revving the old IH iron that high, but it's just too much fun to not do it. It's got a slightly lobey idle, but nothing radical.
The grind they sell just below that one should give you some great low end.

My brother runs the Comp 252H in his 345 and has been satisfied with the low end. Dead smooth idle with lots of torque right out of the hole.

When customers come to me i offer them the Isky split duration. An International Motor (torque and low revin)really benifits from the split duration grind. I have a complete kit with valve springs, keepers, and retainers. If i recall its 252/262. Its got power everywhere, and scavanges the cyclinders awsome with the split. Stans Headers and some nice match porting at the least really complete the package. If ya can get the full port job. Its well worth the flow benifits. Let me know and i will have a kit delivered on your doorstep.
