Cliffy [JD] 06-03-2002, 03:37 PM Hey I got a mag from 4Wheel Parts Wholesalers, from being a customer...blah,blah,blah...my point is this.
I know you pride yourself of having created (or helped in the same) a crawling competition that WASN'T a "Rockracing" competition.
I noticed in the mag I got that one of the editors (or some guy in the "Rant and Rave" section, can't remember exactly what it was) Named YOUR cometition "CalROCKS" as well as a couple others as being beer drinking throttle fests (not quite quoting, but something like that) of rockRACING and not the RockCrawling (as I've seen anyway) that it is.
Anyway, I don't know if you care, but I thought I'd post this info so you would have the opportunity to defend yourself if you wish.
Take care, keep up the good work.:smokin:
Big Rich 06-03-2002, 03:44 PM Thanks for the heads up, this is something I will be looking into.

CalROCS
Rubicrawler 06-03-2002, 03:58 PM Sounds slanderous to me.
Rich, if this is true, please let us know. It's good to know who we are giving our hard-earned $$ to.
Whitewater 06-03-2002, 03:59 PM LOL! Aren't they the marquee sponsor?
:rasta:

CalROCS
Glad I could help:beer:
Big Rich 06-03-2002, 04:33 PM Ok, heres the scope on the article questioned above.....It's the Ned Bacon rant about rock racing/rock crawling.
The 4 Wheel parts editors added a statement at the end that stated the disclaimer " the veiws shared by the authur are not nessarily those shared by the mag or 4 Wheel parts"

I guess they covered their a$$ from a legal standpoint but it's still printed in their rag! Not much you can do legally :(
Big Rich 06-03-2002, 05:11 PM Ned's artcile said nothing about CalROCS directly expect for bunching all the promoters together in one of the sentences. His rant had more to do the RCAA event than with anything else.
so no sweat off my ba!!$
Rich
Rock Toy 06-03-2002, 07:36 PM ...and Rich, if you check out this month's Petersen's, there is a CalROCS article in there that praises your efforts to "slow down" the rock racing and bring it back to "Rock Crawling" by allowing more time per gate. KUDOS to you :smokin:
Big Rich 06-03-2002, 08:06 PM Thanks, but without Roggy and others we would not even be doing the events.
Thnaks

Im4yotas 06-03-2002, 10:58 PM Rich, you're the man. It was sweet to see the technical aspect at V'ville, and even better to see it up close while judging #4 at MoonRocks.
Lemme know if you need or would have more help at Carnage II.
Brandon
Big Rich 06-03-2002, 11:06 PM if you'd like to come up and help, we'll be setting up on the 3rd of july. I'll be letting the cat out o the bag next week, as far as location......It will be a great venue.....infact we may use it for the september event.
Let me know, call tomorrow evening and we'll talk.

Cliffy [JD] 06-04-2002, 07:17 AM Ok I'm gonna QUOTE this time. I know you talked to them and they covered their a$$e$. But just so you know exactly what was said. It's just that it doesn't like he's NOT pointing you out, like was said above.
Here it is:
"So the RCAA will move forward and will have held their next Rockrace by the time you read this. Other Rockraces, put on by ProROCK, UROC, and CalROCS will have occured. All held in well known, popular four wheeling locations. "
Big Rich 06-04-2002, 07:30 AM Cliffy, That's the group call that I was talking about. If he wants to call it ROCK RACING that's fine. I know I can't change NED's mind, I've tried. He was at the Amador event last year and stated that we came as close to what he'd like to see as anyone. But then we did Moon Rocks, which is public land (BLM), so I'm sure he was disappointed in CalROCS at that point. OH WELL. I felt it was ARCC that had the focus of his rant, If it had been CalROCS I would have called him personally at HOME, and talked to him about it. One of Ned's best friends helps Roggy set the courses, so he knows what we are trying to accomplish.
