: POR tour AZ leg
JackA 06-03-2002, 05:33 PM Change of plans. We are running Armageddon instead. With all the closures, this is the best bet. Anyways, there's alot of shade on this trail. We will be running on Saturday June 8 as well. We will meet at 6am. I haven't decided where to meet yet. I'm thinking off the road that leads to the river and lake. Gotta make sure it's BLM land though. I'll keep everybody posted.
Thanks,
Jack
coyote 06-03-2002, 07:27 PM That trail was mean to me....truck is almost ready but want more time but might come out and watch...

Now there's an understatement! LOL
So are you running Armageddon Saturday then? I cant take Friday off:(
JackA 06-04-2002, 08:56 AM Saturday 6am at the to be determined meeting spot. I will let everyone know where, when I decide. I may go check out the area on Friday.
Bad Karma 06-04-2002, 08:56 AM I won't make it this time. I'm going to help Jay in his Top-Secret Buggy Bunker on Saturday. :skull:
:D :D :D
JackA 06-04-2002, 08:59 AM What happened to getting even with the trail? Maybe I'll go to the lake instead now.:D
Bad Karma 06-04-2002, 09:04 AM This was planned well in advance and I got my dates confused. :rasta:
JackA 06-04-2002, 09:15 AM I feel so outta the loop.:(
I guess I'll entertain myself somehow.
AZFord4x4 06-04-2002, 09:38 AM If your gonna run off Table Mesa, I should be able to come spectate... truck's kinda down at the moment though.
JackA 06-04-2002, 11:42 AM Okay here's the deal. I just spoke with the Public Lands Info Center. BLM land is under fire restrictions but is open for public use. This means we'll be safe to wheel Table Mesa. I gotta see if the large parking area on the way down to the lake/river is BLM or state land. It's the closest to Armageddon. Just stay left on the main road to the river/lake and you can't miss it. We will most likely meet there. If there's changes, they will be posted here. 6am on Saturday June 8. Bring lots of water. We don't need any heat problems.
elf_cruiser 06-04-2002, 11:48 AM Hey guys, are ya'll gonna make any stops in AZ on the return trip? I am moving to Phoenix, but won't be there until July 5th. Just curious...
EricZ 06-04-2002, 11:54 AM I'm there! :flipoff2:
coyote 06-04-2002, 01:07 PM Will bring plenty of water....will leave the truck home this time, not much fun pushing a 5500lb paper weight but will bring my BLM pass....you guys would get very mad at 2 in the afternoon and not wheeling 2 straight times.....she's getting better now but still needs an axle wrap bar that doesn't limit travel to bad......and I still want to see the picture that people took on my last visit.....
AzWebMan 06-04-2002, 02:29 PM Just FYI, I have not run Armageddon before, or even seen it in person, but from the descriptions on how to get there, I believe it is on State Trust Land.
You have to go out about 1 mile past the first Y (taking the right-hand fork) before you get to BLM land. I'm asking around people I know and will post what I find. I just wanted to give you a heads up that it may be on STL; I know how much it would suck to get a $2500  criminal tresspassing ticket for being on State Land right now.
For sure Predator, Annihilator, the Terminators, Anaconda and Judgement Day are all on BLM land though. Raw deal and the "parking lot" just off the pavement is definitetly on STL.
Edit: Forgot about Judgement Day.
AzWebMan 06-04-2002, 03:05 PM I found a map, but it didn't have Table Mesa Rd. on it, so I used another map to reference it and draw it in on this one.
The black road is Table Mesa Rd. The Green one is Raw Deal and the Darker Blue area is the parking lot just off of the black top.

looks like Armegeddon is on BLM to me:confused:
Blatant 06-04-2002, 03:26 PM From that map, it appears Armageddon is on BLM land to me, as well. Have a blast, it's an awesome trail.

From the description, I figured the start (in the Yellow square above 9?) was sure to be on BLM, but wasn't sure if it ended up on STL (in the same square as Raw Deal?).

AzWebMan 06-04-2002, 04:11 PM I'm gonna come out and watch. My current Jeep isn't up to this trail (33" tyres and no winch) but I would like to see the fun.
I was told by a friend that ALL of Armageddon is on BLM land. Apparently there is a fence line somewhere after the end of it that marks the beginning of STL.

McSoo 06-04-2002, 04:15 PM I'd like to come out and watch as well. I'm also just wimpy 33's... and dare I say it.... IFS..

I ran it before.
No winch and 33" tires (my 35" baja claws are really 33").
So who IS going to run the trail?

Hmmm.... My 33's are BFG's probably about 32's :D
I might try it, but I thought there was one spot that just about absolutely required a winch. Or have the Rock Stacking Jawas paved this trail too?

It's definately a team effort to get over/through some of the obstacles.
As long as the guy infront of you doesn't get too far ahead your ok.
Be prepared for carnage!
JackA 06-04-2002, 07:43 PM The exit road is a good distance from Raw Deal and the parking lot. I think we should be safe. I also believe the dirt lot on the way to the river and lake is on BLM land too. See everybody there Saturday at 6am.:skull:
RHINO 06-04-2002, 10:26 PM i plan on going out,,i will run the trail if you think my gear challenged pig would stand a chance.
McSoo 06-05-2002, 08:29 AM Well, I gotta work 730-1800... :( major bummer... Stoopid boss changed the schedule.. :(
JackA 06-06-2002, 08:56 AM Follow the main road, stay to the left. There is a large open parking area on both sides of the road near the river. I will try to get out there early so look for the white Ford. Saturday at 6am. Everybody bring lunch and lots of water. Spectators be prepared to hike cause there's not many open seats.
Rhino, I'll give you a ride if you need it.:skull:
COME AWWWWNNNNN!
Aren't there any Jeep/Ford/IH/Suzuki/Landcruiser/Land Rover people from this BB? Or are you all a bunch of Web Wheeling Mall posers? wadddaaaayyaaa skeeeerd?

RHINO 06-06-2002, 06:49 PM yeah!!! hey zags, you big dick,,oops thats jack huh?? i am a cruiser guy that wheels, i'm not skeered, i run BOTH terminators and a handfull of F/J trails with all my glass and without lockers low gears or fuel injection,, beat that with your broken axle mini truck:flipoff2: :flipoff2:
seriously though, i dont wanna purposely get stuck or broke just cause i put the pig somewhere it shouldnt be wallowing. soon though, i'm waiting on the doubler and collecting the TBI parts right now.

coyote 06-07-2002, 08:38 PM Where is this compared to where we parked the first time or entered the trail...will look for Jack's truck and am ready.....go camera
JackA 06-07-2002, 08:50 PM Just stay left on the main road and eventually you'll see me. I am planning on getting their early. The parking area is farther in on the road than the trailhead. See everybody tomorrow bright and early.
