Hypoid Drive 06-03-2002, 05:51 PM Jack where are those new pics of your ride? Bad karma you have any new ones? Jay I saw where you had yours in the driveway on its side doing some welding new pics? . Weld pro how is yours comming ? I would like this thread to be picsw of these buggies and others and there progress you all will never know how it inspires others let alone gives me more and more ideas each of you have design differences that I would like to combine on mine. Toy Family how is your doing looks great . Also as a side note anything that you wish you would have done or that if you did it over you would change.. Thanks chris:D :smokin:
JackA 06-03-2002, 06:06 PM We're keeping it secret. :D There is supposed to be some new ones on TrailToyFab.com soon. That's all I got. No digi cam here.
RHINO 06-03-2002, 06:30 PM i know what they look like but i'm not talkin,,,,:flipoff2:
ToyFamily 06-03-2002, 11:09 PM here's a pic... only things I'd change is now I have access to bettter tools and more time so I can now go back and clean up some rush jobs...(due to the 7 week rush) If I had more money I'd get EFI... but I have it working pretty good for a carb. Adding torsion bars and rear steer and a rear end disconnect (HighAngleDriveline.com) As for Perninant chassis type stuff DOM on the next chassis...is the only thing I'd change so far
ToyFamily 06-03-2002, 11:20 PM :D more on my website http://www.buds4x4.com/rock_me_bumpers/
Chris Geiger 06-03-2002, 11:34 PM Here is a shot of my rig. Making good progress. Hope to do a test run in Johnson Valley this weekend.
ROKTOY 06-04-2002, 06:57 AM Here's another quickie shot....

Bad Karma 06-04-2002, 07:09 AM No new pics yet. Still working on the storage solution and just put new rear springs in. One thing I personally would do different is to make my nerf bars out of something with a little more wall thickness (like .188 or even .250  ), but that's just me, I love overkill...................:D
Toyman 06-04-2002, 07:42 AM Just got the RC D44's under it yesterday with the new link configuration. Got to run brake lines, Hydro Steer lines, driveshafts and exhaust. Hopefully will be ready for this weekend.

The funny thing is that it actually crossed my mind. Maybe just one big rock for flex testing.
morpheus 06-04-2002, 11:03 AM i too would like to have just one BIG rock in my yard, i've got about an acre in the front yard, thinking about putting it there
:D

crawler#976 06-04-2002, 11:12 AM hey Jack- $0.10 PER/LB- for granite rocks
that's what they go for up here-
a cubic yard of solid Granite weighs about 4530 LBS-
$200.00+ delivery will get ya a 4 rock start- a 9 ton load for a dump truck. I just can't seem to get the wife to agree to turning the front yard into a rock pile------
:D :D
So jack, are we gonna be neighbors? :D

Owning a house only makes you an "Honorary Poor Bastard" club member!
Now getting married and having 4 kids.,... I think makes you President of the club.
PARTY AT JACK'S!!!!!!!! :D
JackA 06-04-2002, 11:48 AM Where's the dam buggy pix already?:flipoff2:
We'll be partying sometime in July.
I would like to see more of weldpro's rig. The tin work was awsome....
weldpro 06-04-2002, 06:35 PM I have been a MAJOR slacker lately so I have not got much done at all. I think what slowed me down the most is origanally I wanted to use leafs all the way around , and now after doing so I dont like many things about the set up in the back ie-departure angle/overall length/etc sooooo I have to go 1/4 or coilovers to really be happy with the rig. I had also planned on making it a four seater , and now its going to be only two.
I still have quite a bit of stuff to do but I guess it could be driving real soon if I put my mind to it- If welding & fabricating was not my day to day job I would probably be doing much more but working on my junk doesn't pay bills so I must do for others before myself.
Things I would change....
1. I would not have torn up my 84 xcab to start the project since only the Front axle/one transfercase/part of frame was used. All other drive train parts were used from Lance & Kellys' old beat 4runner.
2. Not have wasted my time seting up the rear suspension.
3. Closed my shop for three months Jan to March , and have finished & been driving!
anyways three pics-#1 is a half assed photo chop of where I'm going.
#2 colum & brakes & clucth master all going up pedals etc. are going up sometime this week.
#3 my kids get way more use out of it than I ( it is mostly used as a "jungle gym" but they pretend to "Rock Race:D " now & then.

weldpro 06-04-2002, 06:36 PM #3
weldpro 06-04-2002, 06:40 PM PS where can I get a decent deal on coilovers?????????
I've been looking but no luck.
Thanks,
weldpro
weldpro 06-05-2002, 11:05 PM UHhhhhhhh anybody found any good prices on coilovers? Brands etc..
Rockstomper-are you planning on selling them? Allpro?
I think Bob Roggy said he could get me some for around $425 or so... A local buddy can round them up for about $475 or so....
cruiserrg 06-06-2002, 07:40 AM I ordered my Sway-A-way coilover shocks from Avalanche couple weeks ago. Still waiting for them, but SAW did change the design of there mounting so I will be patient. They where about $250 ea for the shocks, springs and dual kit will be additional cash.
I have just ordered shocks for now, spring will be after the rig is built.
weldpro 06-06-2002, 08:17 AM DRM- was that Roggys' price (each) for a shock fully setup?
Cruiserrg- I was going to try to avoid SAW only becuase of the wait: (otherwise they have a very nice product).
Thank You both.
weldpro
Priest 06-06-2002, 08:24 AM Weldpro....nice interior:eek:
awsome work...
cruiserrg 06-06-2002, 08:35 AM Here's a pic of mine. I am in the very early stages of buildup. I'm waiting on my ORD Doubler to start bending the frame around the drivetrain.
http://webpages.charter.net/cruiserrg/images/toypuproject/image053.jpg
There are a few more on my webpage.
weldpro 06-06-2002, 09:19 AM Awesome- I'll go take a look at your page. Tose are some big meats eh? Mines olny resting on 33's while being built but the plan is to stay 37" and keep it there.
Priest-thanks;)

From what he said when I called - that is what I was under the impression I got for that price...
A call to him would probably answer this better than I could though ;)
ROKTOY 06-09-2002, 10:27 PM Not that I've run it yet, but one thing I would do different if
I'd had though of it....made the rocker tubes outta .188" wall,
possibly DOM.
Jay
poppycock 06-09-2002, 10:47 PM wish i'd gone thicker than .120 wall on the rockers as well. but these will hold just fine. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?postid=615819
JackA 06-16-2002, 06:14 PM I actually got some finished rig pix. I am horrible with computers and the pix are too big. So, all I got is a couple action shots for now. Hope this helps.
JackA 06-16-2002, 06:17 PM Not a good rig shot, but check out the rocks.:smokin:
