Sister in law just cooked her 1993 G. Chickoree engine - 160K miles.
Need to rebuild or swap somehtin with lower miles in it.
Dont want to do the V-8 thing.
What range (in model years and make) will bolt in?

dunno, but I'd look for same year for smog shiat otherwise you'd be messing with PCMs and wiring and...
I do know that 98 is different from 99 which is different from 00+ on TJs.

'91 up, in any Jeep is the ho 4.0 (what is in her chickaree) I have access to a low mileage one for cheap. out of a '94 call me tommorow. I think we've talked besides just in burger king, after Rubicon meetings. Click on the link in my sig for the phone number if you want it.

I believe the ZJ motors have a heavier casting to make the 4.0 quieter, the XJ and the YJ/TJ motors are basically the same except for the water pump outlets and such.

2000 and later TJ 4.0's will NOT fit into a ZJ.

As mentioned earlier, the hoses all run to the other side from what I remember. The air intake is different too...that shouldn't be a problem though. You should be able to reuse that.
