Hey guys, any of you run 1 ton axles or a 1 ton truck go 4 wheeling with 35" tires? If so, what , if any, clearance problems do you have? Do you get hung up all over the place? Just looking for info because I live in the city and going to a bigger tire is kind of a hassle for me.

I had 35's for a long time. everytime I got stuck it was bottomed out on the axles. 14FF is particularly bad. 38's would be about the minimum.

Just cause you got 1 ton axles, it shouldn't discourage you from running whatever tire size you want.
Better too big than too small.

You can clear 35's with a 4" lift. You will have to do some minor trimming. The 14 bolt will be a chisel plow off road.

You can clear 35s with no lift. That is what I am running right now. Some front fender trimming is required.

Yeah that's right. It didnt discourage me:

BTW: 4" of lift is just fine and I can't blame the diffs on those photos... well it wasn't 100% their fault... :flipoff2:

I've got 35s (actually about 35.5"x12") on 1-tons w/ 4" lift. I didn't need to trim anywhere, and I don't have a bit of rub, but I do have some rust goin' around the fenderwells so that helps. I wouldn't run more than a 4" spring, especially in the rear. You won't have much flex with heavily arched springs. If you want more lift, do a shackle flip and/or longer springs.
Yeah, the diffs plow. It's particularly bad in the mud. I absolutely can't run it into deep ruts or I'll be sittin' on the diffs. Bigger shoes would increase my off road capability considerably, but this is my DD and I don't want to go any bigger for several reasons, so I just have to watch were I go and how I pick lines in order to keep the diffs out of the dirt. I'd rather get hung up than break or have to nurse the damned D44 that my 3/4-ton came with, so the decrease in clearance is definately worth it to me. If you do swap in 1-tons, just remember you're clearance limited under the axles and drive accordingly.
You can also shave the 14 bolt for an inch or two more clearance if you want to. I think there is a write-up about it in the tech section.
