Ok, I've seen the ladder type with a shackle but what other options exist that don't limit suspension travel but fix axle wrap?
Thinking about y traction bar and just bite it and fab a new front mount......

well i guess the next best thing would be a two link, but when you are talking leaf springs and steel tubes all connected at the axle, you are going to have some friction just because they want to move differently. i think the ladder type with frame mounted shackle is the best setup for leaf springs.

This is what I have set up on my FJ-40. It works great. I never flexed it without the bar but it seems to flex well with it...just a simple ladderbar setup with a shackle on the end...

I agree that the common ladder bars, mine included, are not perfect in their design. However, the any limits they do place on suspension travel are quite minimal. If you were jumping your truck, then perhaps, since the verticle movement of the CENTER of the axle is higher. But for articulation purposes, the center moves up-down minimally. It's the outside ends of the axle that move for articulation, effectively pivoting on the center, around the traction bar axis. (The advantage to an offset rear is a nearly centered traction bar.)
I've RTI'd mine numerous times and have checked it in some nasty trail situations....if it limits travel on my truck, it doesn't show. 23 degree RTI (not trail weight either) is 1000. Add in trail parts/tools/etc. and that will climb to 1150 or so. (I know, I know, RTI's don't matter, but ya gotta start somewheres)
Everyone has seen my design (linked of my tech pages) - cheap and effective, and running shock-eye bushings with their hour-glass design allows more rotational movement as well. Shock eyes are "free" (cut off old shocks - 3 required), purchase one heim joint, or use a used steering one like I did, add in a old stock shackle, a couple bolts, about 6-10' of 1" - 1-1/4" DOM tubing, and a 12" piece of 3/16x2.5" flat steel. $100 worst case, more likely in the $80 range.
I purchase/run Doestch Tech DT3000 shocks, and everytime I order I get a spare set of bushings...heh heh
