: lookin for the dude that took my shit at pic n pull
RANT ON:
ok faifield pic n pull saturday morning i pulled a d300 with adapter out of a 82 CJ5. took me probly an hour total, then put it in the back of a van i was starting to pull the motor out of. went to help my buddy pull a york, gone for 5 mins then to the front to go get a crane and who do i see in line but some fawker in line with my case i pulled and some stuff off the motor i was pulling. he was braggin to his buddy "yeah dude i found this in the back of a van i was pulling some FI parts off." i walked up to him and flat out said "dude i pulled that, i spent the time to do it and was coming back to that van to pull the motor" he then proceeds to tell me that he pulled some FI parts off there too(i could care less about that cuz i just get them off another van next to it). what pisses me off THE MOST was his reaction. "ok, so what?" i was so befuddled that this fawkin moron didnt have the common decentcy to apologize or anything like ok dude you pulled it here it is back, i just need the FI parts anyway. i have a feeling i am gonna see this jackass sometime soon.
to top it off, i was puling a rollbar out of the same jeep and accidently left my 3/8 ratchet and torx bits there when i went off to pull the york with my buddy and ran back 2 mins later and they were gone too :mad3:
i know some of you are gonna say call the fawkin waahmbulance but this dude is a serious ass. but everyone ive told from the board so far has agreed it wasnt cool to just not give a rats ass that i took the time to pull it and he just took it.
RANT OFF::rolleyes:
44Runner 06-03-2002, 10:14 PM yeah, that dude is a total ass, but i guess you live in learn. I bet that is the last time you take your eye off something at the yard:rasta:

thats for sure, its seems like you need 3 people to go now, 1 to stay and watch stuff, and the other 2 to go get something:shaking:
Old Scout 06-03-2002, 10:32 PM Pick and pull is like the wild west, especially on 1/2 price day!!!
Three years a go a elderly gentlemen was robbed at knife point in the Stockton yard. The punks put the old guy in the trunk of a car and left him. His wife and cops found him the next morning. You mix with the scum of the earth when you visit PnP ,so I guess you won't do that again.
Scouter 06-03-2002, 10:36 PM Next time spend the $1 to rent a wheelbarrow and put your parts in it; if someone takes the parts out of your wheelbarrow, then kick their ass!

we went to the front to get a wheelbarrow AND a crane which is a 2 person job anyway, i ended up getttin the crane by myself which was NOT easy
Glenn 06-03-2002, 10:51 PM Went down to PnP in South Sacto one day and found this dude laying in the dirt, barely breathing and bleeding from his nose and head. He was so fawked up he couldn't really respond. Just grunted and spit blood. He was in bad shape. We thought at first something had fallen on him or he had whacked himself with a knuckle-bustin wrench or something. Maybe a hood fell on him?? Paramedics came and it turned out that someone had beat the living crap outta him. Probably robbed him of what little money he had for parts. Freakin low-lifes. A man can't even scrounge a few car parts in peace these days... Word up... He was ALONE...
ROKTOY 06-03-2002, 11:27 PM Damn....you guys got some serious yards out there!

LordRatner 06-03-2002, 11:32 PM Hi, i was w/ brad there (gettin the york) and it was worse than brad says. This A-Hole was watchin us, and leaves, but his friend stays. we go to get a wheeelbarrow and the york, and his buddy waits till we leave, and gets the A-Hole, and they get the carb, FI parts, and book it to the line. It was total bullshit, and they WERE trying to get out before we found them, i dont care what anyone says, they were trying to be sneaky, and failed. I wish people could act with a little more integrity, and i feel bad cuz i dragged brad away to help me find the york.
evilfij 06-03-2002, 11:45 PM At Pick and Pull I always have a 3ft bright red crow bar within reach (I am big on hand weapons). Someone comes by eyeing my tools I stand up holding the crow bar and say something in redneck. whachachulookinferboya usually works well.
This method is effective intimidation against even groups of people because even though they might have superior power and will win in the end at least ONE of them is going to get really fawked up and no ONE wants to be the guy who catches the first swing so they move along.
Also go in a group, look like you have no money, take a POS rig with no valueable or know the people watching the parking lot etc etc.
Up here anyway no one wants the "good" parts so thats not really to big an issue.

oh and brad, you saw the guy then. you should have done something then.

i shoulda just had ratner kick him in ther balls, then if he hit him back call the cops for assulting a minor.i just turned 18 and didnt think about doing anything till after the fawker left, hes one of those people you know youll see again:D
evilfij 06-04-2002, 12:47 AM Good luck. Karma will catch up with him.
But maybe next time instead of:
"dude i pulled that, i spent the time to do it and was coming back to that van to pull the motor"
Try:
"Boya, thet thar is my dana three-hunrit, you bess go git yer own"
You have to have a certian look (6'1" 270 with a crow bar seems to work ok) to pull it off but I find it quite effective.

 BAHAHAHA yeah well 5'8" 145 and goofy hair wont cut it huh? :D and the only thing i had was a 12" breaker bar and at that point i just wanted to get my motor pulled and go home since i had been there at 8am and left at 5:45:eek:

You should've just started screaming at him while he was in line:D He probably would've gave in or a worker would've taken his sh!t and given it to you instead. I always put on my mean face at the pic n' pull and I never get more than a few feet from my tools. Down here we have packs of immigrants who roam the yards and I always catch them eyeballing my junk or my tools. I know they don't need what I'm pulling but it's like they're checking it out to see if it's got street value:mad:
foley 06-04-2002, 05:56 AM You just need to be more "assertive"
why whine about it if you didnt have the balls to get your shit back. its your own fault. granted hes a dick for taking it but the world is full of dicks, at least stand up for yourself. maybe he woulda beat yah down but at least yah would have stood up for yourself. ill bet you regret not throwing a punch at him the rest of your life. we have all been there, next time shit like this happens stand up for yourself, you will feel alot better afterwards.
reddwarf 06-04-2002, 06:14 AM Damn right. Was he carrying the 300? If so, you could easily have pushed him down, his high center of gravity would make him an easy target. Then take the 'case back and go "oh look, I was kickin some ass, and I found this nifty Dana 300"
;)

Bawahahahahahahaha, now everybody know I'm not working:flipoff2:
SHERPA 06-04-2002, 06:42 AM you weren't thinking very clearly. AND, you are unorganized.
You need to take ALL your shit with you when you move around.
You went to go get a wheelbarrow AFTER pulling your parts.
(why didn't you pay the $1 when you came in?) cheap?
always move your tools WITH you when you're moving around.
I always take a hand-truck with my junk on it. everywhere.
I'm a big guy and haven't had any problems before, but not
a hard-ass. I've loaned a few tools here and there, but give
them a bit of a hard time if I'm working on something at the
moment and can't watch them.. never lost anything.
You fucked up, somebody took your shit, you LET THEM GO.
you should have stood on his feet, and pushed him backwards.

I think all of you should just be glad you have cool stuff like "half off days" and "pick and pull's" :mad3:
reddwarf 06-04-2002, 07:02 AM Yeah, what is this "half-off day"?

That's what I'm saying! Back in FL, we had plenty of them... 5 in a row on one street... I have yet to find one here in the Raleigh area that hasn't gone to a "we-pick-it", where the counter guys don't know a crankshaft from a lug nut.
"What year is that for"
"Mid-70's"
"Sir, I need a year"
"SMALL BLOCK F'N CHEVY!!":mad3:

morgan 06-04-2002, 10:18 AM The Oakland PnP by the Coliseum is truly ghetto, you have to really have your wits about you. I am not a practiced ass-kicker, but I put on my ass-kicker face before I got there, and didn't take it off 'til the next day. I'm 6'2" and 260lbs, and I can look mean. Probably wouldn't make much of a difference but that's all I had to go on. I kept a close eye on my tools, stepped back out of the engine compartment of the car I was raiding anytime someone walked by.
Some dude tried to butt in line at the counter. I was macho-ed up so when the window came up I put my parts down in front of the butt-er and took my spot back. No words, just testosterone!
No point here, just adding my experience. I think I might bring a 3' crowbar next time tho, and a buddy.

fabricator 06-04-2002, 10:33 AM PnP sounds like some of the redneck
bars around here.
you best be packin something.
The Rockslut 06-04-2002, 10:44 AM I am only 5'8" and 185lbs. When i go to PNP half of day or not I like to walk around like a phsyco. When people look at me or my tools I stare them down. I will step out into the aisle to watch them walk away, checking over their shoulder.
If i spent the time pulling a 300 and some dude took it i would have poked him in the eye and made him drop it on his foot. He could of kept it then. :D

It doesnt matter what you look like. People wont try to steal from a guy looking at IH parts. They know right away that he has no money and isnt very intelligent. :flipoff2:

Bawhahaha...No wonder I have never had a problem at any of the PNP I visit.
Magoo 06-04-2002, 12:01 PM Maybe it's my size, 6'2" @ 220, around here the average guy might be 5'6", 180 (Little Mexico). But I have never lost a tool or had a problem at a bone yard. I wish they would catch on to the "half off day" though.
Your dispostion does deter a lot though. I work in Recovery for a Bail Bond Co. part time and as long as I come across assertive, I have control of the situation. I don't know what happens if I don't. And I never try to put myself in a postion where I am not the intiator, proactive in essense.

BAH-HAHAHAHA!! No disrespect to IH owners, but that WAS funny. :D (still wiping the tears away)
I keep bail money in an envelope hidden away, for encounters with ass-holes like that. I know my temper and if some dick is begging to get smacked around, I do it, I just can't help it.
Makes my wife crazy sometimes in public, If some self-important fawk pisses me off. But she knows that's just the way I am.
Gozuki 06-04-2002, 02:18 PM Wait...
Mistake 1. Leaving your parts unattended
#2 leaving tools too
#3 catching guy and doing squat about it
#4 :crybaby2: here about your own inactions
:flipoff2: Not trying to run you down, but you can't depend on the rest of the world to follow your rules. You can only depend on yourself....If you aren't bigger than the next guy, try to be smarter. If that fails, at least make a scene...
Hypoid Drive 06-04-2002, 05:45 PM WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Down here fawking with someones parts is worse than fawking their old lady! We get plum serious about it, that senario here would go something like this!
walk in and say "Hey " that fucker turns around and the next thing you know he is spiting teeth out like its sand and wanting to help me carry the parts back to my place.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:smokin:
H8monday 06-04-2002, 06:28 PM LMAO Rockslut,[Poke him in the eye and make him drop it on his foot], I can picture that(and it should work, if you poke hime in the eye with enough commitment to make it hurt).
I must be doing something wrong when I go to the PnP, cause I have never had anyone snag my parts, tools or jump infront of me in line. I wouldnt mind it if they tried, pulling parts for hours can get boring. I am much like Doctor_G in my attitude. You dont have to be huge, to stand your ground, Im under 6'-0".
If that would have happened to me, I would have told him thanks for carrying my D300 to the counter for me, and neither one of us would have walked out with it, without the cops comming if I didnt get it back right then.
matt- your bigger and scarier lookin than me
Jeff you are downright intimidating:D
yeah i know i screwed myself by leaving my stuff unattended, everyone saying i shoulda pushed him over cuz he was top heavy carrying the case doesnt help. the dude was too much of a pussy to even pick the damn thing up, he proceeded to DRAG the thing by the shifter everytime the line moved. i have definitly learned my lesson about what not to do at pnp. and by the way if anyone cares he was about 6 foot, little wimpyer lookin thatn H8monday :D and probly 245? brown hair, buzz cutt and a pointy shaped beard. if you see this dude keep him far away from your shit.
oh well, i knew some would say suck it up and get over it and i knew others would give advice on how to keep it from happening again. thanx:D
redwilly 06-04-2002, 06:54 PM The fact that these scum bags cased you out is grounds for an ass whoopin but i have walked upon parts at that very yard and seen no one in sight and scored. If i had seen them pull it and then take off i guess you could figure they checked it out and didn't want it but i don't think thats the case here. I did score a front xj skid (the decent ones) that a guy pulled and didn't need it he just needed access to some thing else they charged me for misc body part 14.99!! If you ever need a goon to go with you and sqeeze necks, I'm down. Thanks for your help with the steering wheel dude i know i didn't end up needing it but you put the effort forth and thats cool!
MCFLY4X4 06-04-2002, 10:39 PM i went to the one in richmond on sunday, by the sounds of thing i'm glad i didnt find anything good. u guys are talking about other part pickers giving you a hard time, the people that work there usually try to skrew me out of $ some how, i guess i look gullable. god i hate being nice.
FULLSIZE 06-04-2002, 11:01 PM never had any probs at P-N-P but i'm a lazy ass and always get the wheelbarrow. hate carrying my tool box. i keep an eye on my shit, but i've left it a couple rows away at time. if its in the wheelbarrow and they take it, that definetly makes them a thief and they better be faster than i am!:mad2:
ironpig70 06-04-2002, 11:05 PM my brother just did a job for a custom volleyball net for this guy made the post out of stainless steel 1 1/2 diameter .120 wall well he had a 3-4 foot piece left over and he gave it to me as a cheater pipe and it will definetly go with me to pick and pull the next time i go cause i don't know alot of people around my neck of woods so i go solo and i ain't going easy.:flipoff2:
mrnatural 06-04-2002, 11:06 PM "If you ever need a goon to go with you and sqeeze necks, I'm down."
Hey frank since when are you a goon?:D:D If'n you ever gave me trouble i could beat you with a 12 mm wrench :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
yeah bring it bud.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is wierd i've been to the fairfield pnp twice and it seemed kinda mellow, i guess half off day brings the wierdos out.
Brutpwr 06-04-2002, 11:19 PM We were looking for Dana 44 fronts one time and could not find them at the Pick N Pulls down south so we drove North. By the time we got to the Oakland Pick N Pull we got scared. Saw all the broken glass in the parking lot and a security guard on duty/watch. We parked near him so he could watch my Jeep! (or signal that it was clear to break in!). We paid are $1 to get in and I accidently knocked the guys radio on the ground. It looked like he wanted to hit me--I quickly picked it up and said "Sorry!" We had never seen so many big African americans working at a bone yard. Not a Mexican in sight! And then we got in and saw that they had a lot of older cars and trucks and also a lot of Caddy's Eldorado's and pink cars and stuff! We left and went to the Burger King and the drive up window and cameras everywhere and you had to slide your money thru a bullet proof glass entry!
My friends and I were amazed--we were low on gas and the locals knew we were not from around there. We had to use the restroom but did not feel safe using it so we stopped in the next town!
Jason :)
