i know these get a lot of bad views but this is the tranny i need to go with my adapter that i have. im running a yota tcase/d300 combo with a 700r4 (when i can find on) behind a stock 350 burning propane. this will be going in an 82 yota on tons with 5.13s and 40s. from what i understand some years of this tranny were more reliable. is that correct?

from what i've read, the strongest 700r4 is from a corvette but obviously thats a 2wd..as for 4wd, idk mine is from my 87 shortbed, most halftons had them back then..its also how it was built andwhat was used..i got a shift kit and a fresh build on it...

the newer ones are the best, starting around 82ish and getting better from there. the fullsize transmissions are better than the s-series ones also.

the one i am looking at is out of a 87 1500. had a 208 case behind it. are the all the same spline count on the output shaft?

an odd spline count, yeah I forgot. I knew it was a common shaft, I had a t5 with the exact shaft as my 700r

would the mounting for the adapter be the same with the th350 as it would be with the 700?

As I understand it, if you are going to rebuild, the year may not matter a whole lot. Get one from a full size 4x4, it will have a "K" case. It is supposedly a slightly thicker casting. You might also want to get the 4x4 aluminum torque converter dust cover instead of the stamped steel version, it will help stiffen the bellhousing too.

years matter quite bit. different pumps/valvebodies, etc.

Learn something every day. The transmission people I talked to told me as long as you get the "K" case from a full size it will have the good parts in it. If you are going to rebuild it wouldn't you replace the pump along with all the wear items, or are they not interchangeable?

so will there be a K stamped on the case?

It is a large letter "K" cast into the the bellhouse, you can't miss it.

I got my "K" case out of a 92 S-10, so I don't think they are limited to just the full size crowd. ;)

keep in mind, alot of time the v6 trannies had fewer clutches and drums to match.
