I bought a 4runner from this guy 6 months ago he was supposed to file lost pink to get the pink slip for it, instead of waiting for the pink I paid him for it like a dumbass. Now after all this time he won't return any calls or PM's. I've talked to his wife, mother-in-law, and a guy that claims to be good friends with him. They all say he is an honest guy and they have all talked to him for me but he does not respond. So now I'm sitting on this 4runner thats pretty much worthless without any paper work. I don't know if I should take him to small claims court or if I have any other options.

Get a application for paperless title in Cali its form REG227 . Basicaly for lost titles so you don't have to wait for him to get the title . You do need his signature , which you should have a copy of from when he sold it to you rite .

I Almost Bought This Runner A Few Months Ago. Aparently His Buddys Ex-girlfriend Who Lives Somewhere In Sacramento Owns It.
EDIT: IS THE TITLE HOLDER. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT THROUGH DMV, IT WILL JUST BE A PAIN THE ASS

x2 for the file for lien then they will have to give you her info, to inform her of the lien.

so I just go to the DMV and ask for the papers to do a lien sale?

Yeah right now it seems like thats the only thing you can do, but i'd go to another office than the one you went to before, and tell them that you found this on your proprety and can't find the own so you want to lien sell it. i did it for a bug a couple years ago and it was long but not too hard.

So as of now you can't register it, correct?(sorry, we don't have the same pink slip thing here).

I'm guessing that seeing that this is pirate, that this is planned to be a future project? If that's the case would it be possible to tear it all apart and rebuild it, then register it as a "homebuilt" or buggy? Downside that that I guess is that you probably couldn't have it street legal.

No I can't register it but I filed for a lien sale so hopefully that works. Yeah I want to build it, but even if I registered it as an off road vehicle I couldn't actually register it because the VIN# would still come up, I think?

Funny thread. I bought a 22r from the OP that "ran great" and "was in his daily driver". Must have sucked daily driving a truck with 40 lbs of compression in two of the cylinders. Luckily it was cheap.

do you even no for fact that it was resolved. my bet is that this thread would have been deleted, or that the original poster would have atleast cleared his name. Yeah i put it back on top, wanted to hear what chad had to say about it since he never posted in the first place.

Never posted in this thread because Tanyota and i spoke through PMs.

If you Redbluff guys must need to know the story heres what happen.

My buddys g/f had a second gen 4runner that didnt run. She needed it off her street and offfered it to me. I got it home and sure enough it just needed a small amount of labor and it was running perfect (for toy 3.0 :flipoff2: ).

She hadnt been driving that vehicle for over a year and like most females she didnt keep track of the title. She assured me that she would find it for me.

Apprx 2 weeks later Her b/f one of my best friends Jeryy Christopher Grayy passed away while falling at work (iron worker like myself).

She wouldnt answer the phone, myspace, emails, nothing.

I didnt want to involve Tanyota into all the drama because as the seller it was my duty to get it the title for him.

She than procedded to move from Woodland to Sacramento to "get away from it all".

I tried my best to get her to sign paperwork but she wanted absolutly nothing to do with me or some stupid truck she gave away. I than offered to buy it back from Tanyota plus gas money.

I also gave him her number, address, myspace account everything to prove i was trying to get ahold of her.

I felt extremely bad about this transaction. Tanyota was very patient and honest person. I left $300 worth of harbor freight gift cards in the runner and he called to give them back.

There was nothing more i could do besides offer to buy it back plus intrested. If i knew i wouldnt be able to get the title i would have listed that in my ad. But at the time i took the runner, paperwork was no issue. "oh its somewhere in my office, ill dig it out for you as soon as i get a chance".

I havent spoke to Tanyota in awile but from what i understand the title situation got worked out.
