View Full Version : Trail 3 how hard is it

We have a group of mostly stock Jeeps and a Ranger, we will defintely not be a hardcore group and only a few of us have a winch. Looking at the map trail 3 is a dead end, is it and if so is there a place to turn around at the end? Maybe some route suggestions, I planned going in 4 around 8 out 5 and in 6 back out 4...but now trail 8 may be closed.
Any suggestions?

Trail 3 is really a dirt road, at the very end which is actually trail 11 it is probly not possible in a stock rig but where trail 3 ends is trail 10 which is the ATV trail. Just get to where it splits and turn around if you just wanna ride in the woods for 2 hours.

Trail 3 is a piece of cake but might be fun for a stocker group. The end of the trail is kinda like a cul-de-sac and trail 10 (atv only) starts there. So yes there is a place to turn around.

Thanks, we will probably stay away from it if it's like a dirt road.

Last Sept when I was there I came down 11 pulling a broken Jeep and made a wrong turn at the end to the right. Needless to say, if you don't like scratches that trail is not for you past the split. It was 3 in the morning though and really hard to see for the fog and my old lady scared to death of a bear jumping in the Jeep w/us.:shaking::D

Trail 3 would be a reasonable trail for any rig if it wasn't for one or two obstacles. At the top of trail 3 is pinch rock. A skilled driver with a short wheelbase jeep on 33's can drive around the obstacles. Drivers of pickup trucks and longer wheelbase rigs will suffer body damage. After you have made it past the pinch rock there is a tree root in an off camber section that has piles of broken glass below it serving as the trails trophies from rigs that didn't make unscathed. It's not a terribly hard trail to get through, it's just a hard trail to get through undamaged.

This is incorrect. He is referring to the backside of trail 11 which comes down and intersects trail 3 so I can see how it could get confused. Make no mistake, there are no obstacles on trail 3 noteworthy such as pinch rock. That thing is a bitch!
I'll say it again, trail 3 is a nice leisurely drive through the woods although I will agree with lockedupLJ it does get grown in due to the lack of 4x4 traffic.
Trail 3 sucks! It about as much fun as a having teeth pulled!

Is there a bypass around pinch rock? I know some guys that are planning on going through there all the way across trail 11 in..
2 grand cherokees maybe a small lift 30's and sliders
a new extended cab ranger 4" 33"
a durango on 33's
and a few jeeps..
will they make it through trail 11? only a few of them have winches. how much body/glass damage should they expect?
What about guardrail and helicopter pad?

Before anyone chimes in to this clown, let me say that you are dealing with a guy who wines worse than a pregnant woman. I've been on 2 trail rides with him and it's simply ridiculous. What he fails to tell you is that he also got so mad that nobody would listen to him that he had his username changed to guest status and revoked his membership removed.
Now, to the topic at hand. Get your facts right. The route for the less extremers was to head out Trail 3 to the end where it intersects with 11, turn slightly down 11 and either come through Pinch Rock or turn around and head back. Nobody is foolish enough to setup someone to break their 2" BB rigs. We are all casual and easy to get along with, but we refuse to cater to crytits. Steven, you have whined so much that it is actually starting to piss me off. It's now a good thing that you aren't going. Everyone has commented on your demeanor and how un-fun it is for the rest of us. Carry on.

I was going until I found out they were following Chris Hyde on ths route, he's telling them it's a real easy trail Yes, a 2" lifted Jeep, 4" lifted Ranger and several other lifted Jeeps should be able to do trails 1, 4, 5, 3 and turnaorund on 11. Dont run your mouth because you break shock mounts on Trail 4 and get all fussy about it. You have tried time and time again to be heard Steven, but unfortunately, you were too whiney for anyone to listen.
why was he asking how to fix a dana 35 axle in case his breaks :flipoff2:
Because goofy. Several of of us with 5" & 6" lifts were going to play around on SlickRock, Schoolbus, Guardrail and Helicopter pad, so yes, I want to be prepared in case of breakage. Preparing is wise. Can you explain why you cant even figure out how to maintaina CB to communicate? The smallest guy there is going to be Vince, aka Diehard with a WJ on a 2" Lift and he wasnt going anywhere near Trail 11, only 1,3,4,5 & 8.

What about guardrail and helicopter pad?None of the vehicles you listed up there were planned to go on Guardrail or Helicopter pad. Seriously, trying to win favor by whining to PBB is not good for you. It's not wise to run from foum to forum looking for someone to agree with your pitiful attempts for sympathy. I think you have shed light on what your about by starting this to begin with. Cry away. I just spoke with the admins of GATR and they too agree that your pouting and leaving was a good move.

You wont come to 3 if you head up 11. It's the other way around. I think you have your trails and your emotions crossed up. Here is a direct copy and paste from the forum.
"Meeting #2: .....The less extreme group can leave Meeting #2 and keep heading down T4 over to intersect of T4/T12, over to T3 around to T11"

I am one of the mods on GATR and im not sure what all happened.
The original plan was to have 2 groups, the easy group led by Steven (creator of this thread) and the other group of bigger lifts, lockers and winches, headed by Chris. We were all going to ride together but then Chris's group was to tackle the hard stuff and we (the easy) group to stay more along trail 4 but Steven was to be our guide. A few days ago Chris posted his planned route for both groups so everyone could get a full day of wheeling and not spend half the morning figuring which trails to take. It was shortly after than steven posted about not being needed and resigned his memebership on GATR.
Steven sorry to see you go and im not sure why you did but i was looking forward to wheeling with you again.
As far as the vehicles go, i am probably the must vunerable to damage. Everyone else has rock rails except the Ranger but his body is alot higher than mine. THe Durango is not going and Grand Cherokee lifted on 33" with a locker and rock rails. I am in an 07 X 2 door with 2.5" coil spacer, new shocks and 35" tires.

If you want to "outwheel" someone, choose lines that reflect it rather than whining and saying "I can't do that!" I had to babysit you coming up out of Fain's Ford for heavens sake. I don't have time for babysitting when there are plenty of guys who want to challenge themselves and learn with a good attitude, like Mike (Goodraven). You didn't hear him cry and he even got some dings out of the deal. You drive a beat up CJ and whined when you broke a shock mount.
Steven, seriously. I told you over in GATR to be a man, step up, organize your groups ride. You simply said...."Aww, we can do this, maybe this, maybe this". Thats what happened last time we went to Tellico and there was no structure. We all poonfarted around and squandered our day. This time, there are going to be about 10 rigs, so I stepped up with a sensible game plan for EVERYONE to have fun. All of the other rigs that are going (several of which have been to Tellico) didnt gripe, they said, "Cool, these plans look good, should make for a fun day". There is no sense in not having a plan. Like I said over there, you simply got pissed because I stepped up and planned. Theres definitely a time for "lax" wheeling, but not at Tellico on the weekend when there are 100 other rigs wanting to wheel. You need a game plan.

This little quarrel is way out of hand. Steve we are all big enough to understand that wheeling involves some degree of risk and the possibility of damage is known.
We are sorry you felt intimidated by what went on in the riders forum but there is no need to belabor the point by going to another forum and beating the horse while it rots.
When everyone gets there there will certainly be discussion of who should go where and can make what obstacles. Anyone not listening to the veterans would be foolish and a lot of those that have never been to Tellico have wheeled for a number of years.
There are a few that dont have the experience and we will watch out for them.

Seems one of us backed out of Tellico, then whined and cried to a moderator to have our account deleted. Who's the pussy? An hour ago, I referred to you in my mind as a 1st grader. Pretty soon, you will be wearing a bib. Stop while you can and step away from the keyboard.Boy you keep talking and it is ALL BULLSHIT :flipoff2: Whoever said they deleted they deleted my account is a liar just like you are, I deleted it myself :shaking:
But NOBODY told you that... it just proves you lie. Get lost.

ARE YOU GUYS FUCKING SERIOUS? I made one post about how none of those rigs belong on trails 11 or 12, come back here a few hours later, and there are TWO more pages of complete bullshit between two guys. You clowns sound like a school girl lunch table.
Take this crap to PMs, AIM, MSN, whatever you queers use to bicker back and forth. Hell, how about your own board. Neither one of you tools should be riding Tellico. Stick to the mall parking lot.

It's not really a "club", rather another forum. I don;t belong to any "club". If this is like gay porn to you, I will have to take your word for it. Anyway, come hang out with us this weekend. If you can't handle a little junk talk, WTH are you doing on PBB? :smokin:

please dont let the action of few keep you from checking us out. This rival between the two started last time they were both at Tellico. I dont know the whole story, i just know each side to it so not 100% what the truth is but it is somewhere between.
All i know is this time, Steven did not seem to like Chris's plan for the 2 groups at Tellico and then removed his membership and quit posting after he was to be the leader of the easy group. Then Chris found his thread on here and 4 pages later here we are.

Sounds like the backside of trail #11 to me.
Yeah, I need to update that. Like you said, I had confused the end of trail 11 with trail 3. It's easy to do because there is a turn on trail 11 that makes it seems like you're going to a different trail.
FWIW, the description of trail 11 isn't that accurate anymore either. I was there earlier this month and the bypasses have made pinch/rainbow rock easy now and the stump doesn't stick out like it did last year.
I don't recall anything on trail 3 that a stockish open/open rig can not do.
