Finished up my 8 lug conversion. Thanks for the input from those of you who responded. I did not have notches in my Dana 44 flattop knuckles to clear the indexing bumps on the 10 bolt backing plates, so I just lopped 'em off.

Just a refresher, I bought an '86 3/4 ton suburban for $300. Didn't have a dent in it and came with optional 4.10 gears and TH400. It's a semi-floater 14 with Gov-Lok, but couldn't beat the price!

The 16.5x10 chrome Centerline bullets were a clearance item as were the 36 12.5 16.5 Wrangler RT II Humvee bias plys. Total cost to swap to 8 lug including FIVE wheels and tires, turn the drums, new rotors was just under $1800.

The wheels came from Centerlines website, and the tires from Tyres International. Tyres has pretty good specials, but the Wrangler RT II's are gone.

Right now, if you go their "Specials" page they currently have 37 13.5 15 Dick Cepek Radial Fun Country II's for $199.75 each which is pretty decent for a tire that size.

Centerline always has some deals including a 16x10 chrome wheel for $199 in the Grizzly with 4.5" bs in 8 on 6.5. You can call on any of the wheels and get pricing.

Nice Blazah

I hope you have OBA and like resetting beads, those 16.5's won't hold a bead at low air pressure off road.

That doesn't look like a '86 Suburban to me...or was that the parts truck for the 8 lug conversion?

Sub was the donor. Still got a ton of parts left to say the least. I wouldn't mind doing the fold and remove rear seat in the Jimmy when I do upholstery again some day. The truck also came with Magnaflow 2 1/2" in/out 8" round mufflers, a Holley Q-jet replacement, heades for SBC, and a Performer intake!

Not too worried about the 16.5's. Seldomly do I do any rocks or complicated off-road. Almost always mud at our property.
