i am curious on value if anyone knows, we will never sell it, it was my great grandfathers gun when he was a policeman and same for my grandpa.

gun is in amazing shape.

It probably is imitation mother of pearl...but I failed at bringing Gen. Patton into this conversation.

in the 20's? Abalone or something, doubt its imitation that early.

yeah, i doubt it would be fake, it sure looks and feels real. i will try and get a pic tonight, the cool thing, which prolly doesnt help the value, but adds to family value, is our last name is etched fancy ol west style between the handle and the bullet housing, yes idont know anythign about guns.

I didn't commprehend its age...that era would probably dictate real mother of pearl.

Whats up with the blemish on the right side? almost looks like spray paint overspray... and if you look close on pic #2 it says something. Cant tell what it is , but it looks to end in PS. :confused:

The blemish is probably just wear from being carried in a (probably leather) holster for so many years. The marking is his family's last name like he said. Is it a single action?

I LOVE S&W revolvers, the older the better. I have 3, a .44 mag, .22 mag and .22 LR and they are all crazy comfortable to shoot.

yes, its just from being in the holster, as far as single action, i dont think so, you can shoot one after another without cocking it.
