: winch solienod ideas needed...
brimy311 06-04-2002, 09:03 AM ok i bought a sami and a rep6000 was through in on the deal, but no solienod box......they are $288 from ramesy....that sucks, anyways, could i use anything else to replace the ones that ramesy sells? i have heard that ford starter solienods are teh same...is this true? if so, what do i need to buy and what do i hook up where?
thanks
sceep 06-04-2002, 09:26 AM not sure on the ramsey but on my #8274 we have 3 of the 4 solenoids replaced by ford ones. Just make sure you get the heavy duty ones that are rated for continuois(sp?) duty. work great. as for wiring them in from scratch.......I have no idea
Eskimo 06-04-2002, 09:28 AM I bought 2 solenoids for my REP9000 from a supply place, $45 for the pair, and they are a direct replacement for the ramsey ones... Lemme go look for the link.
If it can wait until tomorrow, let me know, the receipt is at home.
kodak 06-04-2002, 09:35 AM if you could use starter solinoids you would have to buy 4 and then wire them up correctly. this is for I current foward and reverse for both + and -
you might want to check the junk yards. I have seen ctrl boxes a few times.
Here is billavista's pic from his 8274 writeup. it shows the 4 solinoids.

brimy311 06-04-2002, 09:39 AM no this is not a hurry....also, i think that the rep6000 is a non-reversible motor....it is kind of a cheapy winch compaired to my hs9500i :D....i image i could look at how it is hooked up and copy it...if i could find the right soleniods..
Eskimo 06-04-2002, 09:46 AM Brimy, your motor has only 3 terminals & 2 solenoids, right?
My POS REP9000 is the same way. I'm just about done wiring mine again (it's all purty and clean). I'll snap a pic or 2 tonight. I also have a generic 2 solenoid wiring diagram I can FAX ya.
brimy311 06-04-2002, 10:15 AM uhhh, all i have it the winch and a fairlead, the winch has two terminals on it....i tryed to find a relay, but none will be able to handle the amperage....email me an info you have brian@4given4x4.com. i don't have a fax machine sorry...
Eskimo 06-04-2002, 11:29 AM not sure if it's an old style or new style (they changed beginning of 2000), but the solenoids are the same ones I have. As for wiring, there's .pdf's you can D/L that will give you an idea of how the solenoids need to be done up.
go to their site, then customer service, then owners manuals.
brimy311 06-04-2002, 11:47 AM i doubt it is newer then 2000...it looks pretty old....thanks for the info
Eskimo 06-05-2002, 05:15 AM OK, I got the solenoids from Pierce sales, item # P037, cost was $24.59 each. http://www.piercesales.com/
Here's a few pics of how my solenoids are wired, and one of a general wiring diagram.
