Well, the day has come. Did the Hammers group head out today? AZ is up next :) We'll be expecting reports, pics, etc ya'll!

Did I miss anything/anyone?

(1) June 4th, 2002: Hammers in CA - need trip leader
1badjeep (1), 85toyboy (1), Im4yotas (1-15)

(2) June 7th & 8th, 2002: JackA to lead: Okay here's the deal. I just spoke with the Public Lands Info Center. BLM land is under fire restrictions but is open for public use. This means we'll be safe to wheel Table Mesa. I gotta see if the large parking area on the way down to the lake/river is BLM or state land. It's the closest to Armageddon. Just stay left on the main road to the river/lake and you can't miss it. We will most likely meet there. If there's changes, they will be posted here. 6am on Saturday June 8. Bring lots of water. We don't need any heat problems.
Jeeper (1), JackA (4-5), Crashinaz (1), ZUK (1)

-June 24th, 2002 travel 322 miles to Attica, IN
(8) June 25th, 2002: Badlands in IN on Troy's Trail lead by Syko and/or Woody -
% Woody: Official date: Tuesday, 25th
Camping: Summers Campground, 8 miles N of Attica on SR-55
Call for reservations - (765) 762-2832
NICE campground - outdoor pool, clean, nice facilities, large open primative area, hookups/sites for motorhomes.

Trail options:
Badlands has a few - Green trail is a stocker/light mod trail, Orange is not bad with one locker, Pink needs one locker and a winch will not hurt.

Troy's offsite property will require a WELL setup rig with two full lockers, 35"+ tires, parts, winch, complete disregard for body panels and glass, and a general disposition to slide, roll, slip, and slam yourself thru everything. This is NOT a bypass area, yer in or your out. I had a guy roll on a "bypass" trail last June, coming around to winch me on my tires. ALL rigs wanting this portion of the run will be checked prior on Tuesday morning, so come prepared.

My personal plan: Arrive Friday evening around 11pm at Summers (MUST arrive by 11pm at night to get in/register for your site) Wheeling on Saturday and Sunday and Monday....Tuesday is the silly day, I'm planning to lead/assist with getting the group thru Troy's trail but will only hit the easy stuff myself. We may run it as well on Sunday.

Trail takeoff: Tuesday morning 9-9:30am at the Badlands.
Estimated time: 6-8 hours
Estimated return to Badlands office: 3-5pm.

I am returning home yet that evening, and will be shooting to be off the trails myself by 3-4pm. I will bet that Troy will run with us, depending on how busy he is at the shop.

Thanks Spaceghost for talking with him....he's been "aware" for a couple months since it's been in a newsletter I send him, but he may not have recalled it. I just haven't had time to contact him personally.

My group thus far: Jim with his Cruiser (345 Intl, granny, coil suspension, 38's), Mike with his Ranger (351, 435, 1/4 ellip rear, 38.5's), me with my Cruiser, and probably a few more. Not sure all are in thru Tuesday or not, but definitely for the weekend.

Q for people going on the "Aug 7: Kaner/Shoestring/Funny Rocks in Central WA" part of the tour...

Being that Aug. 7th is a Wednesday, how many of you people are going over just for wednesday wheeling?

OR..are you going over for wednesday and the rest of the following weekend?

Well, my buddy Jim junked his motor in his tow rig....shot a rod thru the block. Bad news, but at least it was only 30 miles from home and we have a buddy with a semi-wrecker to get us home cheaply.

The crap news is, I'm out....since I received no confirmation on other drivers for days other than Tues, I'm not driving 300 miles for just Tuesday. I WILL Be calling Troy on Monday to talk with him....and hopefully, Space Ghost is still in for the ride, assuming he survives the ERoCCs event.

Major apologies....huge....to ANYONE I meet from this board in the next year who was planning on attending, my fridge has a beer with your name on it.

Things are looking bad for the whole GA Crew.
I'm need a drive shaft built and no cash (I don't float credit for anything other than emergencys) till the day before Mont Eagle. Might still try to make it up there. Heck I took friday and the whole first week of July off for this. If the guy has the parts in stock he might be able to get the shaft built that day but I got to clear spending the cash with the war department.
Depdog is going to be stuck working it looks like.
Keith tore up his truck this week including stripping the threads out of his AGR and breaking a mounting ear off (it's toast). Also busted a SS brake line (actully the brake line failed and he went bouncing down a steep hill with no brakes and slammed the steering breaking the box). doesn't look good to have all the parts and time before the ride.
BigJbear is still putting his truck back together. I don't think it even has a current tag on it right now.

I'm sort of hacked about it. EVERYTIME I have a chance to ride Monteagle something happens beyond my control. We had a club ride going up there last year. Had some of the guys from MTTR (I think, might have been one of the other clubs) was going to trail boss for us. They called and said a fued was brewing again and probably not the best idea to be in the area.
Was going to go up for the Southern deal a few months back and Cut down a Tire and BFG was 6 weeks out on 35's,
Wife was near due date the time I had a chance befor that. It is seriously a commical thing how I have never made it to Mont Eagle. I run Tellico several times a year and this stuff never happens other than my wifes birthday falling on Dixie run LOL.
If I can get a shaft built I'll be there.
Meeting at the Smoke house right? What exit is that and what time? How long does it take from 75 to that exit?

Top - anyone remember this? I was recently advised that it's been 5 years & maybe it's time to do it again.

For those who are out of the loop, or may have forgotten what this was all about, the idea was to create a cross-country tour similar to the Ultimate Adventure, but WAY longer. Now, unlike the Ultimate Adventure, the idea was NOT for anyone to actually complete the entire tour. Rather, the idea was to create a series of legs that sort of "connected" with the end of one leg & the beginning of the next. Each leg being the responsibility of a single person or a group.

Example:
Leg 1 leaves Southern CA April 1st & wheels its through several trails & a couple of road days until it ends up in Northern AZ around April 8th. At this point, another group takes over working their way up into Utah & eventually Colorado until April 15th, until the 3rd group takes over, etc, etc. The first "half" of the tour would sort of stick to the Southern US in order to avoid cold weather. Once the East Coast was reached, the tour would head North and then zig zag back West to end up in the Pacific Northwest at the end of the wheeling season.

Each leg leader would be responsible for creating a schedule, setting limitations on the rigs if necessary (maybe a maximum number, maybe minimum modifications, etc), and deciding when & where it's permissible for rigs to join that leg midway through.

A leg could be as long or short as you desire, just as long as someone is willing to pick up where you leave off.

We did this pretty informally last time, but if we do it again, maybe we can take it up a knotch or two. Maybe a travelling banner that completes the tour & gets signed by all the participants. Maybe some corporate sponsorship to help with rig breakage along the way? Maybe all the participants put some $ into a hat & the end total goes to charity? Or, maybe this was just a one-time shot.

Whaddayathink, gang????

There is a group of 3-4 of us here in the DFW Tevas that would hook up with yall and do the tour through this area. Probably be in for Clayton, Disney, Katemcy, and or Hot Springs. JJ

There are no rules. It's just a trail ride.

Tex maybe you should start a new thread to organize the Ultimate Tour Pirate Style '07.
