A guy brought this over to my house to have me work on it. The first thing he wants me to do is to get the 4 wheel drive working. Well I took it out and the t-case is engaging fine but the front axle is not. So what do I do buy a new actuater or what? Second he wants me to put the springs on top of the axles well how hard is that going to be. From what I see the only problem will be the shocks and the sway bar. But Im sure you guys know alot more about this then me. Lol Im just a tractor tech chevy mech

9 times out of 10 the front axle doesn't engage because of the vacuum lines have tiny holes in them from battery acid or other reasons...id bet u a dollar its the lines, don't look at them...check them with a vacuum gauge.
Sprung over axle suspensions are common but require much more then just putting the springs over the axel...U will need extrended brakelines, new shocks, new mounts, new sway bar links if u can't make your own, A slip yoke eliminator to replace the rear slip yoke, and a CV drive shaft. Im not sure what you agreed to do for him, but SOA will totally change the appearance of the vehicle and the way it drives. If he can't do the work himself i would make sure he knows exactly what hes getting into.....It costs 500+ bucks for the Slip Yoke eliminator and CV driveshaft alone....Not to mention if hes going SOA on stock axles, that much lift usually means hes gonna be using tires that are gonna break em. Word to the wise, cover your ass and good luck.

yup but don't check the hoses... trash em and put new on .... only a few bucks and quicker than checking .. next if you aren't experienced in such things then have him pay for a soa kit from a reputable company that way you help protect yourself from liability... use the search feature and read the faqs at the top of the page...all your questions will then be answered
