Got bored, no alcohol involved....

I have a steering column from a 2005 TJ sitting on my bench as I collect parts for the upcoming engine swap. I've been having a hard time finding a (used) ignition switch, so I thought I'd see what's inside the little box that holds the switch (and key cylinder and auto interlock cable) held to the column with tamper-proof screws...:shaking:

What do you suppose the first thing that happens is? The little spring inside hits me in the chest. Now I can't figure out the proper way to reassemble. The FSM says it's not serviceable.

Super annoyed with myself.

Being inquisitive enough to want to know how something works and to then possibly improve its design does not make you an idiot.

Telling the world via Pirate when it goes south may make you an idiot.

you have to be a pretty damn dedicated smart ass to make a response like that while typing on your freakin cell phone :flipoff2:

I think I'll be able to take those shocks to the UPS store tomorrow.

OUCH that sucks, I would try and get a Blow up of the column and see if you can get her back together!
