22RE as it is fuel injected. Although you can modify the 22R stock carb to run at higher angles. The 22RE is still considered better then a modified stock carb.

The 22re also had more horsepower from the factory. Numbers I've seen put it at 20 hp more. That's a lot when you're talking about a little 4 banger.
