: tire size for 5.5 RE lift
peligroso 06-15-2007, 11:52 AM tire size for 5.5 RE lift I'm getting a 5.5 RE lift & I'm trying to stay somewhat legal on the street I'm looking at 35's with a 15" or 16" rim also vendor is still up in the air how wide of a tire & should I stick with that height oh yeah it's going on a 06 TJ Unlim.
Dookey 06-15-2007, 11:52 AM I'd say 40s at least. What vendor is it??
peligroso 06-15-2007, 12:00 PM Dookey I''m guessing the it would be the lift kit rubicon express tire vendor undecided
Dookey 06-15-2007, 12:03 PM RE 3.5s and a 1.25" body lift is more than enough lift for 35s:smokin:
peligroso 06-15-2007, 12:05 PM yeah but I hate body lifts they always give me gremlins
Dookey 06-15-2007, 12:07 PM wth are gremlins?
peligroso 06-15-2007, 12:12 PM issue that pop up of & on but when you go to find it the problem stops
GOOBAWIGGA 06-15-2007, 12:34 PM 37" MTRS = :smokin:
crawldit 06-15-2007, 09:28 PM RE 3.5s and a 1.25" body lift is more than enough lift for 35s:smokin: X2 Heck, I'd go RE 3.5 and lose the body lift. I'm running 3" teraflex coils with 35's and love it :smokin:
If you are dead set on the 5.5 then upgrade those axles and get 37's AT LEAST.

well that's one of the reasons that I was going with the 5.5 is that I could go with a bigger tire after I upgraded the axles & be able to run on the road without losing road usage & down the road when I get the $$$ for d60 upgrade
Brandon Rhoads 06-16-2007, 06:53 AM I'm running 36 tsl but i could definitly fit 40's. I have the 5.5 re lift

36's cool what width & rim size
bsdboy 06-17-2007, 10:05 AM That's a fairly tall 5.5", should clear 36" no problem. If you DD with it might think about doing something with the front disc's as well. Might aught to do some steering upgrades as well.
btw, sup neighbor :smokin:

Petti 06-18-2007, 05:48 AM 5.5" springs in the front, 4.5" springs in the rear 37" MTR's
Tires will just kiss the fenders in the rear, and hood in the front....
any larger tire would require sawzall.....

geberhard 06-18-2007, 10:17 AM Bad ass pic petti!
I am running 35's on my wife's TJ, 5.5 long arm. I honestly think they look kinda smalln (I am used to my 40's), fort that size lift. The lift flexes insane, but with bigger than 35's the tires would rub when flexing. Or you could put slightly bigger bumpstops.
Some pics on my sig: (Jeep recovery)
testing the flex on the driveway yo!

Hi Gui what do you think I should run on rim size 15 or 16 & what width tire 12.5 or bigger I still like that shot of you two rigs
thanks Gui
geberhard 06-18-2007, 02:14 PM Noah, thanks! Hmm am not 100% sure on the Rubi TJ's, but I think you should be ok with 15's. Are you looking to get beadlocks, or steel? I personally like the MTR 37's a lot, and also the 35's. 12.5" wide is great! Will you be doing a lot of street driving, and do you mind a bit of noise?
IV WHLN 06-18-2007, 02:31 PM Rubi or not, 15's will work. Run an 8" wide rim with 4-4.5" backspacing. 16 and 17 inch rims will have more options in this backspace. 15's will be cheaper (tires and rims). 35's are tallest recomended tires size on TJLA but you can go bigger with tube fenders or cut fenders like Gui's YJ/TJ. Personally I wouldn't run larger than 35's on the stock TJ front end.
jeepinTY 06-18-2007, 05:40 PM TJ=35-37's
LJ=40's:D

Cool Gui yeah I would like to not so far down the road go with beadlocks but I might settle for the lift now & get a tire with a rim size that I will swap a beadlock rim onto later But I'm not running a Rubi TJ just an unlim. TJ but in looking thier is some cost efective beadlocks out their I just tend to atract cop's so I might save up for a DOT beadlock on the MTR I have issues with goodyear I burn thru them to fast
IV WHLN their will be no cutting at this time let me break it at least once before then
geberhard 06-19-2007, 10:32 AM There are some beadloacks on steel wheels that are not bad at all and look like street lock wheels. You live around teh corner from me, kinda, so you are welcome to drop by if you want to check out the Jeep.
Jeepman14wheel 06-19-2007, 11:36 AM Tire size depends on what type of sawsaz blades you use! I would say 35"-37" would fit. I had a RE 3.5 with a 1" BL and 35" fit easy.
GroundClearance 06-22-2007, 01:38 PM Sorry to hijack, but I'm installing this kit tommrow, any tips or trickss?
I'm gonna be running 36"Mt/Rs
geberhard 06-22-2007, 01:44 PM Ground, check my Jeep recovery thread, I posted some pics and trips on the process. Check this, page 5:

I agree. I'm running 3.5" RE springs with 35" tires and no body lift. With bump stops in the front it would be okay and the rear didn't have any issues. I just skipped the whole thing and put some BTF tube fenders on the Jeep and I have no rubbing issues. I love the way it feels on side hills. Its a way more comfortable feeling than some other rigs I've had the opportunity to ride in.
peligroso 06-24-2007, 05:35 AM ok rim & tire with a 35"-12.5-r15 on an allied 15" rim what width & back spacing on the stock LJ axle set-up
