: 80 Series Camper
ginericfj80 06-04-2002, 08:23 PM One of my fellow club members called me this morning and said get to your McDonald's right now. There is a diesel 80 series camper from Germany there. I went over and took some photos and had a nice conversation with the guy. The conversion was made for a Defender 110 and customized to fit his 80. It looked very nice. He's been in the US since November travelling around. He is headed to Oregon and Washington. So you folks might be on the lookout for him. It is Dark Green with German plates. It sticks out pretty well. Keep your eyes open.
Later!

Pleeeeeeze
ginericfj80 06-05-2002, 09:02 AM Jim, I'll send them to you to post as soon as I get them back from the film developer. You see I drive an old Land Cruiser and I still live in the stone ages and have to have film developed. Hopefully, I can score a digital camera for Christmas. To tide you over, this is what it looked like http://www.innovation-campers.de/d_home.html He spoke English pretty well. I didn't tell him I spoke German as it wasn't an emergency situation. And my German stinks.

I'm jealous. :p
I hoped a couple of old cruiser camper shots might soothe the restless natives and buy some time until your film gets developed. :D
Cruiser Ken 06-05-2002, 02:46 PM Send me the digital version of those pics Eric and I'll put them on the net.
Cruiser Ken 06-05-2002, 02:56 PM From the German website... Get'n it! Camper style.

Advent Horizon 06-05-2002, 08:11 PM That reminds me...Anyone ever adapted such a thing to a 40, or even one of the roof-top tents? I've looked around a little bit and not found anything, but I know some of you guys have picture collections to rival the national archives :D
Sloan 06-05-2002, 08:14 PM I like this one. It appears to replace the factory fiberglass top and away you go. It is made by a company called Eureka, don't know if they're still around or not.
Advent Horizon 06-06-2002, 01:12 PM Hey, I like that :-) That'd have lots of space in it, too!
I just did a quick search for Eureka, but the results are all crowded with the regular Eureka tents...Ah, well, I'd best keep looking :)
Sloan 06-06-2002, 02:26 PM www.sofcom.com.au I found that pic on an Austarlian site, might start there.
BJ On Roids 06-06-2002, 02:56 PM that cruiser, i saw yesterday!!
that EXACT one!! :flipoff2:
yeah it never said eureka or nothing, so i guess eureka sold it
it looks NICE, and no longer has that camper piece, it must just be a part of the roof (so it bolts right off)
he's only built show ponies, but he does only build FJ40s, so i guess its not that bad
