: Old school Ford wheeling trip, lots of pics
VerticalTRX 06-17-2007, 06:07 PM Just thought I'd share some pics of our recent wheeling trip to Potts Mountain. We had 6 Fords (two were 90's models, the rest vintage), two Jeeps and a Yota truggy go, great wheeling and camping.

Looks like that could be a long ride down if you picked the wrong line...
Nice pics!
TrikeKid 06-17-2007, 08:00 PM Really cool area! Awesome pics. Every time I see a built old school Ford I start lusting after them but I have to tell myself I've already got a truck that's not done.
77cherokee 88bronco 06-17-2007, 08:03 PM wish we had trails around my neck of the woods

Yup, thats for sure, its on the edge of a pretty decent cliff. No one in our group made it up the ledge unassisted, the two EB's winched up. I have never seen or heard of anyone making that ledge, its pretty nasty.
I think its time for some sliders on the ol '79, then maybe I'll give the ledge a try. :grinpimp:
The ranger is Eric the Red on here, and the green '78 Bronco truggy is Partsflyin, not sure if the other two EB guys are on here or not.
Poohbair 06-17-2007, 08:32 PM Great Pics!!!

Naw, up there in the clearing there weren't hardly any bugs at all, I guess because of the altitude. Glad yall could make it up, it was nice seeing all the Fords on the trail.
Where in VA is that trail?
Its north of New Castle, I can give you specific directions if you want.

Grubb, you have a way of making an already steep ledge look even steeper. However, the leaning people and trees give it away.

Damn, that's WTF out there from me. (Nawfuk/VA Beach)

lol, I know, however I've found tilting the camera is the only way to give full effect of how steep something really is. With the camera flat that ledge looks like a little 4' step, which we both know it's certainly not.
loveshackle 06-18-2007, 10:20 PM Likey the big ol' Fords. Thanks for the pics!
Ramboss429 06-18-2007, 10:41 PM Me likey as well. Makes me wish my old iron was wheelable at the moment, and we had some trails like that near by.
Catfish Hunter 06-19-2007, 02:22 PM is that second campsite on the backside of the trail up reddish knob?(cant remember the name offhand)
edit: nevermind, just saw it was near new castle

Its on the ridge of Potts Mountain, between Jefferson and George Washington National Forests.
SniperX103 06-20-2007, 09:09 AM Looks like a sweet trip. Loving that 90's Ranger. Quite the setup... is his bed rack completely custom?
Eric the Red 06-20-2007, 09:43 AM is his bed rack completely custom?
nah, it's an old conferr rack I picked up some years back. I just built the supports that are under it.
blthomas 06-20-2007, 10:16 AM Nice pics.
Vert, I just bought a Scout rear off a friend of yours couple weeks back.
Can't remember his name, but cool guy.
Man, looking at them pics makes me want to bust ass, save some coin and do something with my stock 79' F150.
only thing not stock is the motor and the tires......and the burnt NP435:shaking:
Gawddamn that looks like a fun place to go.
My balls got tight looking at the ledge though.....:flipoff2:
I gotta try and do a cheap build up on mine.
Big79'Terry 06-20-2007, 01:22 PM THANKS FOR SHARING:smokin:
