Yeah but you have to admit it's alot less painful than paying a garage to do it!:skull:

Having done it twice, I commend you on your patience! At least the second time was after I removed all the smog equipment to install my TBI system. :D

Now I'm gonna replace the entire drivetrain!

georg-

been there several times!

But maybe we use the wrong (straight) 6 cylinder.

there is the 3F carb manifold that is double bolted and does not warp.
there is the 1FZ-FE which can be super charged
there is the 1HD-T series turbo diesels
then, the piece de resistance
2U (whatever) twin turbo supra engine with up to 800hp-from a straight six!

The 2F is an emmissons nightmare. Look at an early F motor and you may change your thoughts. Mine is much easier to work on than just about any motor I have ever had.
The distributor is easy to get at too:flipoff2: .

Of course, it makes poo for power, is heavy, loud and gets terrible mileage. It is easy to work on, though.

so THATS whats underneath all that spagetti ;)

since you have it pulled apart, why not install a header:question:

You have to work on em?

i did'nt install a header because the 6 cyl POS will be replaced shortly with a TPI 5.7 and a th700 combo, just trying to figure out if i should go with the 203 doubler in front of the stock t-case or not.
probably a good idea to change to the later split case at the same time cause mine is an 84:( .

Good point. I have seen many more V8 trucks with the hood up than stock sixes.

In a quick answer, nope...

I would at least do the split case..

The cruiser tcase is the only reason I did not go with the Roc box.

I have seen your rig and you will probably break your tcase ;)

LOL..true... mostly to show it off :flipoff2:

Yeah, my 305 has its quirks, but I wouldn't trade it back for the 6!

I didn't find replacing the manifold gaskets to be that bad on a 2F. Try replacing the block/head heater hose on a 1fzfe.

If you need, or think you need, a ratio of 120:1, go with the NP203. If you decide to do it later, you will need to buy all new adapters. So for about $400 more you will not have to worry about it...

Look at mine:

W/ my totally desmogged 2f I can change the manifold (header) gasket in about 45 min. if I take my time. I could probably do it alot faster if I tried:D :smokin: . I don't think that it is possible on a SBC to change intake & exhaust manifolds that quickly. on the other hand the tbi350'd fj60 needs less maitenance than the 2f & parts run atleast 1/2 price. & can be found at Kmart :D 350's Rule!!!!!

hey Jason M,
Is that pic what I think it is??? :D :D

and the exhaust is dead easy to do, smog or not!:smokin:

I have replaced MANY SBC intakes and gaskets. The tend to leak at the rear, especially if they still have the stock POS rubber gaskets instead of silicone. I have also had to replace two over the years because the farking POS OEM intake corroded and started leaking at the water neck. I also had a alum intake that came warped on a hot rod years ago and had to RR several times.

Intake replacement on a SBC is not easier than on a desmogged 2F. I've done both MANY times.

Stock exhuast manifolds on a SBC can be a real fun afternoon just as much as Cruiser ones can be. Headers on a SBC are easy though.

It's six in one hand....

I think that one of the reasons that some people have so many problems with 2F intake and exhuast manifolds is because they are trying to run parts that belong in a dumpster. It they are warped they are a pain to machine and will leak. If they are not, they will hold up w/o any trouble. You can buy the whole intake and exhuast assembly for $750 new. That's a lot of money, but it will not leak.
