Im getting high hc on the smog test. It was only at idle. Some of the other things i failed were no connection for o2 sensor, no vacume source for egr and open vacume lines. I fixed all of those problems and am just wondering if it will pass smog or if i need to do some other thing to my truck. It is an 82 toy 4x4 w/ a 22r.Also the egr is good. tested it myself

dude, didn't we already go through this all?? How in the world would we know if it is going to pass smog? From all the junk you said was wrong, (which by the way, you never said all that in your original problem session) it sounded like you had a lean misfire, thus your high hc reading. Give it a shot, it's the only way to tell. I don't mean to be a dick, and I know most of the guys are more than willing to help, but, cmon it sounds like lazy to me..:shaking: :D

Non related question

Did the 1982 22R use some kind of goofy "feeback" carb?
Just how does an o2 sensor work with a carb?

o2 wire not hooked up is a big problem....do this also, new plugs..use plain autolites to pass the test then swap in NGK's, new wires cap and rotor set timing 3*s retarded from factory. these will lower HC's at idel, carb adjust will too.

I think the computer reads the O2 and leans the mix but either
#1 carb has wires going to it for ??????
#2 timing adjust through distributor advance/retard

The O2 is used to turn the AIR system on and off.
