Hi all, I thought it would be a good idea to get a RR header tank sensor to monitor my cooling level (had a few near misses) so I picked one up 2nd hand with a newish looking tank. This is in my Defender BTW. So I put a meter across the 2 terminals and moved the slider up & down and it doesn't alter reading so I am thinking its knackered, is this another common electrical fault with RR?. I googled this and found next to nothing but it appears there is a reed relay in that is activated by I presume a small magnet in the slider. So am I on the right track and if so can it be fixed?

I never tried to fix mine, left the light blinking for a few years (don't bring up the bulb...) I got a new one thrown in on one of my parts orders and never looked back, I think that's when I replaced the tank with "improved" version. Try rangerovers.net, I think repair my be covered in there. I've heard it's been done. Sometimes the float doesn't want to float anymore or hangs up on the guide.
