I tried searching, but couldn't find much info on people who have used these. I am considering getting one, as I have a death wobble on my bronco from the 38.5 TSL/SX's and hummer rims, and the local shops won't balance them because it's a split rim. I figured with one of these I could do it myself, if they work, that is...

SteveN and I were taling abou these the other day.
For the price I think it is worth the try.
My mom worked at a truck stop when she was in college she pumped fuel and busted tires.
She told me that them bubble balancers were all they had back then. I guess if they could be used for truck tires on split rims they should work fine on swampers.

I used one back in ,hmmmmm... 1990 to balance some 35" TSL's and some 36" TSL's for my Scout. They balnced fine, but I think Swampers quality has gone to shit. I got five 38" TSL's and three of them were out of round.

We still use a bubble balancer at the My work. I work at the 76 in San Juan Bautista. It works just fine never had any problems with it at all. No complaints eather. The only thing i would worry about is how much the tires and rims weigh they might crush the thing.
I work at a major theme park six *lag* and we use a bubble balancer in our shop to balance the tram tires, dump truck, and all other park vehicles, and did my buddies 33's on it and it worked great

Bubble or static balancers will work for most applications but they have one drawback . . . They only give a radial balance point. They will not tell you the lateral or side to side balance points. Could be a problem with wide tires.

thanks guys, I just picked it up today, and tried my spare on it... Holy shit was it ever out of balance, no wonder the golf balls weren't working in them, I had tried 6 balls in the tires, and to get a balanced reading I needed to place 12 golf balls on the tire (yes, I took out the 6 inside before I tried balancing it:D ) I think I'll try rotating the tire 180 out from it's current location on the wheel, and see if that helps...

CrazyHorse ... you already had six golf balls inside? And you say that you would need 12 to get it balanced? Well no wonder it wasn't working. 38.5" tires aren't light and the bigger you go the higher the possibility the tire will have greater imperfections. 12 golf balls sounds like a lot to me BUT I haven't run that large and aggressive of a tire YET! I would really like to hear how well the bubble balance works out. I'm thinking it may end up being a combo of balancing methods. BTW, how wide are your tires?
Keep us all posted would ya?!?
