: What's your Experience with Tires?

I'm asking because I go through a lot of side walls. Who's tire seems to be the most durable in the side wall?

I only run 31's now and will someday step up to 33's after lowering the gearing some more. Trails here are mostly rock - a tree took my last tire out.

my BFG 33 x 9.5 AT on stock rims have held up great. get some gears from a tracker, and the bigger tires. you'll be happy that you did.

I wouldnt go BF unless you get krawlers. I have seen personally sidewalls go on 4 different BF tires.
For the most solid, as said before, go SX.

I love my Kumha Road Venture MT KL71 The price is right too. You can also order them through Sears Auto and save shipping charges. They're great aired down, really wrap around rocks. Sidewalls are flexible as well as durable. I've got about 10,000 miles on mine!

The Road Venture MT KL71 is an Off-Road Maximum Traction light truck tire developed for the drivers of Jeeps, pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. The Road Venture MT KL71 is designed to combine exotic looks and great off-road ability with large rim diameter sizes.

The Road Venture MT KL71 features a cut- and chip-resistant compound molded into a directional tread pattern comprised of packed center tread blocks with stepped edges, unequal width shoulder lugs alternating with ejector bars, and aggressive sidewall lugs with off-shoulder sculpturing that provide the biting edges needed to dig down through mud, as well as claw at the sides of ruts for added pulling power. The tire's structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to enhance high-speed stability and durability while the two polyester cord sidewall plies promote durability.

well iam one of the lead techs at sears auto and i would have to say stay away from any bfg unless it is a crawler! and stay away from thegood year mtr! the kumho tires are great for the cost and have good sidewalls but the best i have see are the superswamers! any of there tires have great sidewalls! i ran the bfg mt and never had a problem. but ive seen my share of sidewall rips and tears!

If you do a search, there has been lots of talk on this in the general 4x4 section over the years.

Basicly most mt's have similar sidewall strength. Most are now 3 ply, but a lot of off brands are still 2 ply sidewall. Only difference is going to be the rubber compounds that are either softer which will seem to puncture easier or a hard compound that doesn't. The ones you hear that rip their sidewalls probably have a real soft compound on them. I know guys that run the dunlop rover mt's from sams club (or elsewhere) and they never rip a sidewall. They are a hard rubber compound but same basic sidewall. Great in the mud, trees and ruts, but not as sticky on the rocks.

If you want real strength on the sidewall, the swamper sx is pretty much the best tire out there. (size being the factor here. seems that you want a 31" tire and many other great tires are not in that size). Next would be the swamper tsl bias. I Ran the 31x10.50x15 bias ply for years and I can say they are real tough tires. Swamper radials are ok, but not really better than any other mt. The swamper truxus is the newest tire for strength and is the way I am going an my stocker build. 31x10.50 is what i'm going with. Looking these tires over sold me on them. Plus they seem to have a new mold for them and the balance issue others have mentioned seems to not be an issue any longer. Check them out. At $123 a tire, can't beat them!!!! BFG mt's are at $145 now I believe. 31" size.

Thanks for the input guys.

I wanted to post this here to keep the input from lightweight Samy users.

I have during the last 5 years gone through 15 two-ply sidewalls, mostly from rocks and a few trees. The company is still warranting them, they have changed their warrantee in recent years, but are still honoring the old warrantee. I wont mention their name here, but I haven't seen the name mentioned yet. I’ve become the laughing stock of my group.

My email notification of new messages has not worked for sometime. I’ve checked my profile for the correct email and settings to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Interco tires rock - just about any of them.
I'm running used 35x12.5 trxus (like less than 1/4" tread) and have amazed some people with what they can still do.
