What gauges is everyone running with their toyota motors?

I am looking at getting the Autogauge 3 guage pod, and recessing it into the dash. However, I don't know jack about guages and sending units. Will I need to convert my sending units on the motor in order to use an aftermarket gauge?

Anyone??

THANKS!
Chris

I run Autometer's AutoGage series mechanical stuff...and have no complaints. Since your still inline 6, you'll need to run a Y for the oil sender and then a Metric to SAE adapter. You'll need to run a separate plug on a block water jacked with a metric to SAE adapter for the water sending unit. IMO, running a aftermarket volt/ammeter gage is a waste if the stocker is working.

IMO, electrical gauges are not as reliable....use copper tube for the oil sender and the coiled wire for the temp sender (outta be standard) DO NOT use the stock plastic tubing you get with the oil sender, or carry extra oil for when it busts (and it will).

Hopefully someone can tell you where they mount up, since my 350 is a tad diff than your I6! :D

Sweet thanks Woody.

I wouldn't be changing the stock ammeter except that I am removing the stock guage pod entirely. To make room for the new guages so I don't have to cut the dash to all hell and back.

Mechanical. Autometer, not the autogauge stuff I have had three "autogauge" tacs fail. I can't imagine the other stuff is a whole heck of a lot better. Besides, it is not that much more expensive to tell you the truth. IMHO

and run hard tube for the oil pressure. The thin plastic tubing tends to fail and make a BIG mess. No Y needed if you are going to throw away the stock cluster.
Oil mounts to the same stock location, just remove the stock electric sender. Temp will replace the stock temp too. Or you can just use one of the other plugs in the head.

I have no idea about fuel gauges or what will actually work with the cruiser speedo cable.
