Tellico Novice Questions.

I have a few questions being as I have never been to Tellico.

What are some of the closer campgrounds to the park? I found several places to rent cabins, etc, but I cannot tell which ones are closest to the trails.

Can you go during the week? My job requires I work most every weekend, but I have lots of time off in the early week. Is there anyone on the trails during that time?

How bad are the roads getting there? I have a 30 foot trailer that tows two rigs, but will the roads be steep and windy?

How long are most trucks on the trails? I realize this is a loaded question depending on your rig, luck with breakage and which trails you choose. I guess a better question would be how many trails could you do in a day? Assume a rig with 38" tires, locked front and back and a pretty well reinforced/upgraded drive train.

On the cabins i dont really know. From Crawfords it is about a 20 min. drive pulling a trailer this is on the NC side.On the TN side from Green Cove it is prob. about 15 min. During the week you will be fine with a 30 footer. If you are comming from the TN side it is much better for pulling.

Running the trails is great during the week. In 2 days you can run everything up there then some.

Stateline Campground is now partitioned off but most everyone will be gone during the week. You could camp about 1/4 mile away from Trail 6 on the TN side. Crawford's is 20 mins away easily on the NC side. Btw, Stateline has no showers and public crappers. Crawford's has hot showers, laundry and heated crappers.

You should be able to run all the trails you want up there. If it rains, well... best of luck to you. Bring spares.

The closest cabins are Tellico Cabin rentals, on the NC side, there are a couple of cabins at Green Cove on the TN side but not the quality or numbers that there are on the NC side.

We stayed with Tellico Cabin Rentals during Memorial Day. From the ATV Den, it's a 5 minute drive to the Ranger's station. They have plenty of space for a big trailer.

Tellico Cabin Rental are at the enterance of tellico OHV on trail 1 right off davis creek. Give my buddy Chuck a call at 828-835-8882 (office #) and get set up. They're great people and rent out some nice cabins. Check out the web sit. They even have a shop (slick rock offroad) located at the top of the hill above the cabins. Tell'em shane sent ya....
