I am about to buy a Tom Woods CV driveshaft for my TJ and install my SYE kit to get rid of the transfer case drop, but Im not entirely sure what length to get. It seems like 16.5" is the magic number, but I have talked to a TJ owner or two that recommended 17 or 17.5". My Jeep is a 2001 model on a 4 inch Rough Country X-series short arm suspension lift with a manual transmission, Dana 44 rear axle, and stock belly pan skid plate. I'll be installing an advance adapters SYE kit. I know that the best answer to this dilemma is to install the SYE and measure the length, but I cant afford to deal with the downtime on the vehicle while I wait for the shaft to come in, so if those of you who are running a similar application could tell me what length of shaft you are running, I would be very grateful.

Measure your stock drive line from center of u-joint to center of u-joint. With the AA SYE you should add 4.5 inches for the difference in the slip length vs. the new yoke. Because you have a short arm kit round down reduce it by .5" because of the arch in your suspention travel. In short... measuer cap to cap on factory shaft and add 4".
Hope that helps.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot and see what I come up with...
