i need a car for the summer so naturally a sammi seems like the perfect choice. This will be a daily driver and will never see a trail. Is there anything specific i should look for when buying one? I'm planning on selling it at the end of the summer. Most that i see for sale are 88s, if i can get one for around 1500 would that be a good price?

Thanks,
Steve

if youre not going to wheel it, let someone who will use it buy it!!!!...... ok, do a compression test, look for oil leaks, check for excessive driveline slack. im sure there is more, someone else will chime in. never see a trail, why buy a sammy then???

cuz they're cheap. i have a trail truck and a tow rig but they're in california and i'm in baltimore. i need something just to get me to work and back every day and there's not a whole lot of cars that i know will run well for 1000-1500. If you guys want to take it to the trail it'll be for sale in august, i personally can't afford to do anything but drive it to work.

If you need a CAR, buy a car. Pick up a VW rabbit or something...

If you do end up getting one, make sure to check the oil on a frequent basis. Mine burns oil, and I've heard from a few friends that used to have Sammy's, but sold them because they burned too much oil. I wouldn't say it is anything out of control, but just be sure to take a look at it every now and then. ~Steve

I think a sammy would be a good choice if that is what you want as a little driver, I think there easy to work on, ok mpg, and there kinda cool. Not to mention if ya decide to build it up it could do well.
My .02:) It's still a shame that it will never see the trail though.

just to recap...my bronco and my tow rig are in california, i'm in baltimore. i just need something to get to work in and i'm only going to own it for 2 months. I think the sammi can handle being on the road for 2 months of its life. Then, hopefully someone from this board will buy it and abuse it. That being said...anyone know where to find a good used one? I've got 1500 to spend.

They don't get too bad of gas mileage either, but that's when you leave em' stockers...
