I know my point of view on this mess isn't real popular, I think we are getting overly alarmed about something too stupid to end up a reality, and I think I'm not the only one with that view. From the Heartland Institute's Whither Wilderness? How Much is Enough? (http://www.heartland.org/studies/patric-ps.pdf) :
"We hope the collective wisdom of the American people and their elected representatives in
government will take us down some less slippery slope as regards the wilderness as well as other
wildland resources. As Sir Winston Churchill once said: “Americans can always be depended
upon to do the right thing—after they have tried everything else.”

But, I'm glad you guys are doing what you are doing, someone has to watch the store, otherwise the eco-nazis will walk off with it.

But, it is Kalifornia...:rasta:

Check out the response I got from this about a month ago  Guess it's time to write some more!

Thank you for your recent email to Supervisor Rex Bloomfield expressing your objections to Senator Boxer's Wilderness Plan. He asked me to let you know that Senator Boxer's proposal does not eliminate any existing OHV trails.

Supervisor Bloomfield appreciates you taking the time to notify him of your concerns regarding this important issue.

Thank you,

Brad, I fixed the link (Thanks Jon;))

I'm going to have to disagree with you on getting overly alarmed on this.... You've seen it first hand in the past what happens when Ca says something - the rest of the states follow....

This is huge IMO and deserves more attention than it's getting from everyone, myself included.....

I guess we'll find out how many people are willing to step up to the plate at the rallies on the 11th....

I could not disagree with you more on this. Where was the collective wisdom when Feinstein pushed through the Desert Conservation act that set aside 7 million acres? We cannot sit back and let this slime through. The general public has no clue that Wilderness Areas mean you can't even ride a bicycle....

Jon, where I'm partially coming from on this starts with the last couple years of Klinton. Suddenly, there was a new phrase in the American consciousness..."land grab". In just the past couple years I think the American public, especially westerners (maybe with the exception of many Kalifornians), have become acutely aware of things like this. And the western congress critters have too. Remember what Radanovich said a couple weeks ago? I fully expect boxer to get some of her bill passed, but i'll just bet its gonna be miniscule compared to what she wants.
But, like I said, its still the number one thing on the radar, and I'm glad it is. If I lived closer to you guys you can bet I'd be at one of the rallies.
A lot of people that have read that op/ed I did on Green Nonsense got my point, and it pissed off quite a few. Don't miss my point, I just don't want other things to sneak by while folks get way wound up about this.

Brad, I want to agree with you to a point about the fact that the general public is "smarter than we give them credit for", but everytime I try, I just think that Californians voted for Klinton, voted for Gore, voted for Boxer, voted for Feinstein, voted for Davis.... they also voted in favor of more gun control laws to the extent of even banning the sale of low priced hand guns, or so called "saturday night specials", leaving some low income families unable to obtain a firearm to protect their families.... Kalifornians were in favor of the roadless rule, and more national parks.....

Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to agree with you, I'm going to have to say the general public that can think for themselves and form their own well thought out decisions, should itself be put on the Endangered Spieces List....

The public believes just about everything they read, so we need to get this in the public eye in a pro access light....

I fully agree that we need to always be aware that this could be a "distractionary" tactic for some other land grabs...
