I always thought these things were pretty cool, and would be a good alternative to a quad for me. (Had an accident 10 years ago and have a paralysed right arm.)

I always liked the little 1 or 2 seater offroad buggy with a go-cart engine or whatever then i started seeing the side-by-sides come out.
Do most of them come with a 4lo option, do they have reverse?
How heavy are they and how stable are they on a sidehill?

I've currently got a f/s buggy project getting built, and i've gone with the sterring wheel on the right hand side. It makes it way easier for me to reach all the levers etc.
How difficult would a similar steering conversion be on a side-by-side?

The Polaris, Ranger and RZR, & the Yamaha Rhino all have 4 lo.

Side by sides are very stable for exploring. I would much rather be in my Ranger for rough stuff than my Polaris 700 quad. The sxs handles it much better, except for the stuff the qaud can fit between.

Af far as the RH drive conversion, I don't see why it couldn't be done.

All the SxS's on the market today have a low range the weight is between 975 lbs for the RZR to about 1150 lbs for the Ranger. They range in top speed from about 40 to 55 (stock) all have auto trans ,no clutch and no shifting. Just high, low or reverse. No other hand controls. The ranger has the shifter on the dash . without looking I think it could be moved to the left side of the steering wheel fairly easy. The RZR shifter is a cable type so it could possibly be moved to the left of the driver also. This may be easier than changing all the other controls. the steering could be a trick because of the angle the steering shaft comes out of the steering rack. not impossible just challenging.

Is that a Sanfu or a mitsu? We messed with those before we even got involved with the lifted golf cart craze. They are pretty cool to look at but don't really have much for off road durability. Cabs are pretty tight too. most have a pancake (opposed) two cyl engine and little four speed trannys. I have not seen any 4x4 models. parts were very hard to come by as well.
