My gf and I are contemplating saving for an enclosed trailer over the winter for next years' dune season.... While I am only looking at a 16ish foot long one, why do some trailers have the side door over the axles like this one:http://www.kiperts.com/cargodetail.asp?ID=9455

My guess would be so that if you load a car over the axles you can crawl out the door and not have to walk the length of the vehicle crammed against the wall. It my also be nice for tying the car down if you do an over the fender deck

What Todd said. You open the trailer door so you can get the car door open and get in/out.
