: weekend update 6/23-6/24
binderbound 06-23-2007, 07:08 PM Figure I would start this early cuz I wanted to rub it everyones noses that we did some wheeling this weekend:flipoff2::shaking:
Uglyscout, myself, and a non pirate scouter hit the hills at TSF pre-running for the Binder Bee trail ride in a few weeks(Are you coming? Did you send in your registration? Do you want to come? go here http://www.ihsto.org/gwbb_2007/gwbb_2007.htm ) We covered some good easy trails and thought we had seen enough, sooooo...like any other time I'm at TSF, we hit the Crushers.
Crushers 2 -- Uglyscout 0
ANOTHER D44 shaft and joint. When is this kid gonna learn:shaking:

He was even taking the girly lines...

Notice the 'going around' big rocks... Until he was forced over the harder line.

Funny though, the joint broke when he was 5 feet from the exit, 200 feet from this spot.
binderbound 06-23-2007, 07:18 PM I was able to get through un-damaged(again). I did spend some time on 2 wheels(second trail ride in a row). When I get the youtube video link, I'll post it...

We didnt take hardly any pics of the day except this one spot.
The non-pirate scouter had a boo boo when she didnt wait for a spot. But, after seeing Uglyscout go through, I'm not sure a spotter would have helped:shaking:

Good day. Nice weather. I'm sure Uglyscout will post up his pics when he gets home.
Scout Dude 06-23-2007, 07:18 PM I actually worked on my Scout:eek::laughing:
Urban Wheeler 06-23-2007, 08:08 PM Bought used injectors, mounted the fuel cell, still need tabs so I can bolt the straps down, plumbed fuel lines, and started on wiring. I wish my injectors were here so I could put the plenum on and hook up all the sensors.
Blind Driver 06-23-2007, 09:44 PM Saturday: Installed Sylvania Silverstar Headlights. Nice and bright with more light to the sides. Glad I bought them :)
Sunday: To be determined
crazy4ih 06-23-2007, 10:36 PM I am going to pick up a Sterling 10.25 FF for the rear of my Scout tomorrow. Decided to go this route instead of messing with boring out the D60 spindles to accept 35 spline axles. I'll post my 14bolt & rear 60 for sale when I get around to it and get some info off of them and that will more than pay for the Sterling.
Other than that, nothing.....

Sterlings spins tubes. Brace/gusset/weld them accordingly before you get too crazy with it ;)
Rock Tractor 06-24-2007, 01:47 AM Went to Binderfan2002's wedding. Congratulations Bro.:smokin:

misterfubar 06-24-2007, 05:19 PM Thursday night I help a buddy work on his stuff, he's having FI problems.
Friday I did some running around and went to buy a Scout that night... but decided I didn't need another project. Here's a link to it... it's worth way more than the price he's asking in parts alone. http://www.trailkrawlers4x4.org/tkbbs/viewtopic.php?t=5928 I just really don't need another project right now. Also helped my buddy out some more with his AFI issues.
Saturday I went car shopping and ended up buying a 99 J$%p XJ. http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/3729/1002985ky1.jpg
It's basically stock(D30HP/8.25) except it's got a CAI, header, exhaust and it's missing the cat. Good thing I live in Kansas and it will never be inspected, still got them to come down on the price though. It's in real good shape and should serve as a good daily driver for me. The wife is taking my car and we are selling her 2 door because she's knocked up.
Sunday I rewired the hack-job stereo install on the XJ and put some better speakers I had laying around in it. Also replaced the headlights with some silverstars, charged the AC and cleaned up a few other things. I'll probably be out in the garage the rest of the night... might actually start measuring and cutting some metals for my floors. Might even do some night wheeling later tonight since I have a running 4wd now.
JustinL 06-24-2007, 08:34 PM Almost there. Wiring harness is 90% done. I should get my tubing to mount the seats on friday. I installed a 94amp 12si Alternator.... Spent all day trying to get the old one to regulate at something less then 15 volts, 10 minutes to install the 12si 8-). I may even pick up my tires friday.

Diesel Smoke 06-25-2007, 05:12 AM Long weekend for me. After bailing on Binderbound and his crew, I hooked up with a couple of other buddies and ran the Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route #4, which runs East to West from Eastern Oregon to the Cascades. Left Wednesday night, spent 3 days on the trail and ran about 99% of it. The end was a dead end, so there really wasnt' a reason to run up to it. Nothing we hadn't seen before. All in all it was a great time, not really any heavy wheeling just some trail clearing and trying to work a 2007 Crew Cab Dodge through some tight stuff around fallen trees. The truck did great and only ended up with a small dent on one of the lower bedsides. Don't know when it happened, just that it wasn't while I was spotting.
I don't have any pictures up yet, but hope to get a few up tomorrow night. The trip just reaffirms it's great to be in the middle of no where.
76scoutman 06-25-2007, 08:23 AM Housework. :shaking:
Just about got my upstairs done, now if the damn contractor will get off his ass and come fix my ceiling things would be great.
Harvester of Sorrow 06-25-2007, 03:25 PM Had my boys for a BONUS weekend...(unplanned)
Sunday I thought about tearing into the front passenger corner...but did apartment work so that I could work on the Scout later.
Had sex with my girlfriend.
Helped my company move into our new building...
uglyscout 06-25-2007, 06:46 PM Sat: As stated earlier wheeled with Binderbound -- good times. I did indeed break about 20 feet from the same place I broke last time we wheeled the same spot --- But it was a driveline u-joint that time.
And my side of the story goes --- "I made it out of the trail and was backing back into the trail to make a multi point turn to avoid a Toyota that had parked right in the exit... When I loaded all the weight on the right front tire and the joint exploded and shot parts 20 feet."

NICE PIC!
Mechanos 06-26-2007, 02:51 PM A little late for the weekend, but tossed the battery back in my Scout last night to fire it up and keep it limber. Good thing I still had the hood open when I went to start it.... as soon as I turned the key on and energized the electric fuel pump, I noticed several "fountains" of gasoline shooting out from the fuel lines. The 3 year old fuel line I put on is all cracked to hell and was shooting gas all over the engine compartment. WTF??? I guess they don't make fuel line like they used to.... I'll have to go to the part store and pick up some to replace all the rubber lines before I can fire it up.
Brandon 06-26-2007, 04:24 PM I started ripping my scout apart, hood, fenders, front clip, dash, etc.
