: Weight: Swamper vs MT/R
BensonMN 06-05-2002, 01:42 PM Anyone have weights for the following:
Super Swamper TSL - 38 x 12.50 x 15
Super Swamper TSL - 38.5 x 16.00 x 15 (87lbs)
Goodyear MT/R - 37 x 12.50 x 15 (65-74lbs)
Edit: MT/R Weight added via Gozuki Link Below.
Edit: 16x38.5x15 Weight added via Rockhog's post.
Note: Standard Swampers above NOT SX!
tuckster 06-05-2002, 01:43 PM I think that was addressed not too long ago, you might try the search function. Good luck :D
BensonMN 06-05-2002, 01:58 PM Yeah, I know how the search function works. Before posting this thread I did a search and read about 20 threads all the way thru. There were some comments on combined tire and wheel weight but nothing on tire weights by themselves.
Weight has been tossed around as discussion but no weights have been given. If they have, prove me wrong because I cannot find them.
dangerber 06-05-2002, 01:59 PM I don't know weights, but I can tell you pound for pound, the swampers will be better than the MT/Rs for our terrain around here. :D (Picture MT/Rs all caked with clay-ey mud, working as well as a drag slick!)

My truck spends more time in the Black Hills than local trails. With trips planned to Montrose, Moab and Disney (OK) the MT/R's should do fine.
Back to my question; How much do the tires above weigh?
BensonMN 06-05-2002, 02:27 PM Gosuki--
Your post gives me two weights for the MT/R.
Zippo on the TSL Swamper!
BornInAJeep 06-05-2002, 02:29 PM call national tire & wheel, or any mail order place(it's free a 1800 number) they will have the exact shipping weights.
BensonMN 06-05-2002, 02:43 PM Fawk sitting on hold any longer. Called National Tire and waited on hold for about ten minutes.
Interco number listed on their website is bunk!

Get some SX's:flipoff2: They will work better in Montrose and SoDak than MT/R's, Moab, everything is sticky....
rockhog 06-05-2002, 02:58 PM The 38.5/16x15 TSL's are 87 lbs each according to Interco. Pretty
lite for a tire of that mass.

Have you run both?
Knorr has been pushing MT/R so he must be impressed with them? Or maybe he doesn't want me to actually keep up with him?

Well he talked shit about 'em until after the Montrose/Moab trip when he got to see how Phil's worked. Then Knorr got some MT/R's for his Runner, so now he might be a GY whore:D
The MT/R's are a really good tire, but they just don't have the voids and big lugs to help pull up ledges like swampers will.
If you are gonna see a good amount of road time with your rig, the MT/R's might not be a bad idea. Also Phil has had two MT/R's replaced under road hazzard. He told 'em he ripped the sidewall on a curb
BTW, the 38-12.50, 15 TSL's are small tires, I had some and they ended up being around 35.8" @ 20 PSI on a Blazer....

I'll measure mine tonight but they aren't THAT small on my Jeep. They stood about 3/4" taller than 37" MTRs and weighed roughly the same to 5 lbs more, unfortunately I never put them on a scale or I could actually help.

38.5 Swampers are MUCH different than 38 Swamper TSL ;)

I thought you had SX's:confused:
Either way, from my own experiance, and I'm sure TEX will back me up is the 38 TSL's are much smaller than a 38.5 TSL, or SX:)

SXs are alittle too heavy because I'm...... well........ uhhh....... light in the motor department :D
I agree though that 38.5's are much much larger, I've seen that in person also. I think the MTR and TSL just both run similarly small

Well, maybe. I haven't gotten to the full-on destructo stage yet, so it still kinda looks like a rig-with a whole bunch of extra junk in and around it! :D The sawzall may come out this weekend though!! :skull:

This guy has a pretty good spread on a few different Swampers.
Sorry to bring up an old thread but I've been trying to find weights for a while myself.
