Well, I finally have to deal with this crap. I do ont want to shell out for the AGR pump just yet, but I do have to deal with this before the CALROCS event. My P/S pump overflows every time I wheel in my rig. When I fist start wheeling, I fill up the reservoir, and it steers fine, but by the end of the day, I have manual steering because I blew all the fluidd out. What is causing the reservoir to overflow? Is it because the pump is overheating and needs a P/S cooler? or does the problem lie deeper?

put on a big fat tranny cooler. I had the same problem until I added a cooler.

Sounds like its overheating. Try running a tranny cooler as a PS cooler.. it should solve the problem.

I was watching truck related tech show and they discussed this problem, running larger tires with stock pumps. The fluid superheats and flows out of the reservoir, boils out. They tried several methods, first they tried different brands of fluid. Cheapo brands to quality brands. The quality brands reduced the problem but it still existed, slightly. Then they put on a cooler in the return line, this ended the problem. They also went further to put on agr components, but you get into $$$$.
I would try a quality fluid first, purple bottle stuff, and if that don't work the tranny cooler in the return line.

Had the same problem with my AGR pump.

I put on a 5x7 tranny cooler...added more fluid, and no more overheat probs.
