I am really stoked, I just bought a old school Powermatic drill press, 6 inch quill stroke, and a variable speed handle on the front. A jackshaft resides where the motor was stock, and the motor turns it for a further 4 to 1 gear reduction. Just a perfect machine for drilling big holes in steel, but still fast enough for whatever I will need from it. It is just way old school cool and in PERFECT condition.http://drill press.jpg drill press 2.jpg

Now they are also selling a 10 inch atlas lathe with tons of accessories for 600. The owner was a machinest who just passed away at 89. The lathe in in perfect condition, but I just don't think it will be big enough for what I will need from it in the long term future, I just don't know it it is a good enough deal for a 10 inch lathe, that I would sell in the future when a bigger one comes my way. What is something like a Atlas 10 inch lathe with lots of tooling going for in your area?? How about stripped? Don't make me decide this one on my own:D lathe1.jpglathe 2.jpg

Yes you should get it, and you probably should buy whatever else was in that shop too. I've seem them go for anywhere to $500 bare to $1000 optioned out.

Is it in Chicago? If so and you decide not to pick it up let me know the details please. I could probably get my sister or brother in law to pick it up and store it till I visit them next month.

I would def get the lathe. You could always resell it but I doubt you will after playing with it.

You're a fool if you don't buy it and every piece of tooling or other tools that might be lying around.

But, don't trust me, I'm a machinery junkie :flipoff2:
