: Bench Seat Buggy

Has anyone used a bench seat (for the driver/passenger) in a buggy? I am still in the planning stages of a buggy build and have been toying with the idea of putting a bench seat in the front, and no back seat. The thought behind it is that 3 people COULD ride between obstacles when needed, in a pinch. Typically there would only be 2 people in it. The buggy will just be for recreational use. At this point I don't want a back seat, but would like the ability to have 3 people ride.

To rectify the lack of bolstering I thought of some type of heavily padded "hump", that would hinge down from the harness bar. Then it would fold back to the storage/fuel cell area when 3rd person seating would be needed.

If nothing less, I'm thinking it may be cool to have a bench seat buggy if it hasn't been done before. Then again, maybe there is a reason.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Cake is the only thing that came to my mind..... :p

Stick shifts and safety belts
Bucket seats have all got to go
When I'm driving in my car
It makes my baby seem so far

I need you here with me
Not way over in a bucket seat
I need you to be here with me
not way over in a bucket seat

But when we driving in my Malibu
It's easy to get right next to you
I say "Baby, scoot over please"
And then she's right there next to me

I need you here with me
Not way over in a bucket seat
I need you to be here with me
Not way over in a bucket seat

You could take an old bench seat to an upholstery shop and have them re-form/upholster it with some nice bolstering and maybe some belt slots as well. It's a thought anyway.

I was not so much questioning where to get one from, rather if anyone had experience with running one.

If I choose to go this route, I plan to use a PRP or Beard bench.

Good (or decent) suspension seats are so nice to have I can't see it being worth it to have a bench so you can carry a third now and then. I had a bench in my truck when I first got it, switched to 4Runner seats, got PRPs and would never go back to a bench. Use your fold down idea, put in some foot pegs and hand rails, or whatever you gotta do...bench seats are gonna have you flailing all over. My $.02

HAHA that was the first thing that came into my head too.

All my trucks have had bench seats. even my 2000 chev has the center seat instead of the consol.
