So these generic 3/4 chev calipers everyone swaps onto their 14bolts....What size Banjo's do they use?

Went to junkyard and pulled a few last night but am wondering now if I got the right ones..Dont seem to thread in very solid. Are there multiple chev calipers of different sizes and do they use a different banjo?

Thank you,

I cant remember the size. I took mine to the parts store to fit them.
There is also the metric issue.

Parts store is of no help, tried already but thanks! They seem to think Chev's dont come with brakes or something :)

I am using 3/4 ton front chevy brakes off a 1980 chevy K30. I got a motormite part number as #313940. I got them at Auto Zone. My banjo bolts were the same for the 1 ton front brakes and the rear 3/4 ton front brakes.

Thanks Dookey,

From reading some things further, it seems like they can be metric or imperial...7/16 or 10mm...There was a cut off in 77 or 78 according to one website. Guess thread one of those two bolts in and see which is best!

One guy even said one of his calipers takes 10mm and the other takes 7/16!

If I remember correctly, all 4 of mine took the 7/16". All of my brakes are off of the chevy K30. I picked up the banjo bolts and got lucky they all fit. Now my bleeder valve is different on 3 of my calipers.

I get these banjos from a local race shop. They have a -4 fitting and I run my own SS braided lines. It works out really well!

You can get a better shot of the banjo/bolt/SS line setup here. They are exactly the same front and rear.

Exactly the route I am taking. Nice job! Do you know or have a link for the adapter you used to convert your jeep hard lines to AN-3 or AN-4 ??

Earls has both of them. Mine are from the same local speed shop.

I use these.

and this is the -4 which I use.

I use those little clips to hold them in place. I'm lucky cause my local speed shop keeps all that stuff in stock but it is expensive. You just need to verify your fitting sizes. Mine were the 3/8 inverted flare.

Brakes are over rated :flipoff2:

I have all this brake stuff fresh in my head cause I just replaced every last brake component on my jeep minus the booster last Saturday. :)

I think that gm began to use a 7/16 in 1979 and after, before that it was larger but i am not sure wate size.

It was the other way around. When chevy went to the 10 bolt they used a 10x1.5mm bolt which is smaller than 7/16-20

to clear it up, D44's use 7/16". 10b's use 10mm. 1/2t, 3/4t doesnt matter. neither does the year, just what axle they are suppose to go to.

10b 10mmx1.5p
d44 7/16nf
d60s are another deal, i have a 84 cucv d60 it is 10mmx1.5. i dont know when exactly they started the metric, may have been with the 10b interduction 78ish.

i have seen a 78 D60 with 10mm banjo's. but as stated, its who's guess when they started. it took GM like 4 years or something to totally phase out the 44, it probably took just as long to phase out the 7/16 d60's.
